Which characters apply for the split/merge mechanic with merry&pippin and Frodo&Sam? Would the starter versions and mr underhill qualify?

Also note that we have a ruling that "Names and Titles" from the LotR set is equivalent to "Real Name" on the character card. Finally, we know that we ignore anything in quotation marks when looking at a character's Real Name.


The starter figures Ringbearer and Guard of the Citadel have the "Names and Titles" of Frodo Baggins and Peregrin "Pippin" Took, respectively, so they can be used for splits and merges.

Esquire of Rohan has a slight hitch. The back of his card identifies him as Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck -- you will notice the version in the Player's Guide is misspelled with a double-R. So this works unless someone around is really picky.

I don't have Mr. Underhill, but if the back of his card says "Names and Titles: Frodo Baggins," then he would work for split/merge as well.
