I know that to use the MoE TA the figs have to be adjacent to each other, but do they have to be adjacent to the fig they are attacking?

The reason this confuses me is that on the WIzkids site, on their MoE figures page, they clearly state that you can use the TA ranged...

Or maybe is it that you can use the TA with ranged attack only while based with the opposing fig (ie. flyers)???

The MOE write up from the updated Marvel Team Abilities:
"Masters of Evil™: When two or more friendly Masters of Evil team members are adjacent to the same member of an opponent’s force, all adjacent Masters of Evil team members may make a close combat or a ranged combat attack against that character using only one action from your allotment of actions for the turn. All characters attacking in this way receive an action token."

So they do not have to be adjacent to each other, just to the same opposing member. And they can use ranged attacks provided they are a flier or are attacking a flier and are not adjacent to a non-flying opposing figure.

But don't read too much into the team abilities web sites, go by the rules document. The writeups to the teams and characters located on the website have been found to have errors in them.

Also remember that the MoE TA only allows for attacks, not actions.
