Why would you say that? I think its the other way around.
Because 10thM Phoenix has more options, but basically the same dial as GSX. More options > than fewer.
Their dials at 300pts are very close/basically the same so then it comes down to they end option heal the rest of your team 2 clicks versus jumping up to click 8.
Both are good, but 10thM phoneix being able to be played at 100 makes her better...course that may have nothing to do from most powerful..lol
While he's not the most powerful clix in a one-on-one situation, I just can't get over how cool GSX Magneto is. In particular, the double TK for extra damage, his range-nerfing power, and the boost from occupying a debris square are all incredibly mean. Plus he's low-cost enough that you can build a great team around him. When Wizkids previewed him, I think I actually said "wow" out loud.
For really big guns, I'd say All-Star Superman, Veteran Icons Superman, Cosmic Spidey, Zen Dr. Manhattan...the usual suspects. Ultimate Thor is also quite nasty for the points, and he allows room for teammates to patch his defensive weaknesses.
I am with you on the ICON veteran Superman; now add the Bat belt, prepped to the +2 exploit weakness, and a light object and you get a one hit wonder.
I mean – HHS of 15, Attach of 14, defense of 20 and 7 clix damage – exploit weakness.
The light token got more than one purpose –
Allow him to be in stealth, thanks to the Bat suit.
Is someone can target him with a range attack, he gains a plus one to his defense.
One clix extra close combat damage.
Under 50- AV SR Scarlet Witch- She makes or breaks teams with ease at 35 points, long range, flight, and a click in adding barrier. With her long range, she'll see even more play with the new rules, and that's hard to believe. Otherwise, any cheap outwitter changes the tide of the game. Amadeus Cho bystander, for example. Personal fav? Franklin Richards. at 2 points, has KO'd galactus, the entire justice league, thanos, the entire Kingdom Come lineup, deathstroke, juggernaut, ... the list goes on.
Around 50- MM V Domino- Best turnabout ever, 300 point teams X-men vs Batman Enemies. My entire team except for her got decimated thanks to a couple bad moves and some lucky rolls. She wound up taking out the entire 300 point army alone in less than 20 minutes at a tourney. Even the old V Deathstroke in stealth. Didn't even take a click of damage. unbelievable. And the old V Deathstroke is a good second place, though a lot of newer characters edge him out. Batman Beyond, for example, even with a limited Outwit and Perplex, and Holiday Killer does almost as good a job, but much better stats.
100 range- There's a lot of figures that should get this spot. But im going to give it a 3-way tie- SI Starter set Thing with his full move charge + special power, and WoS Nightcrawler for being a little cheaper and a lot more evil. and OOTS Batman is still one of the hardest figures to deal with even today, thanks to a virtually broken SP and outwit ALONE.
150 range- NGN 'Centurion' Iron Man. No other iron man figure ever really shined until the Extremis one, they were all just... there filling out a team. Throw Stunning blow on this guy or not, 4 damage with outwit and RS with 2 bolts, for 160, everyone played him. at 170, everyone played him more. I don't like including extra stuff when just rating characters, but let's face it- he's the wolverine of iron mans until recently, and he still holds his points fantastically well. Special Mention goes to Black Adam/Shazam on his Shazam side, especially when paired with Johnny Thunder and Jakeem Thunder.
And no i'm not forgetting Skrull-vell. She is phenomenal, but most people lose to her due to sheer intimidation. I've only had a problem against her a couple of times- and with the changes to stealth, and with the changes coming later on, she can't carry her own weight like she used to- although she absolutely is worth her points, just not as much as she used to be (easily 200+ before! now, 175 is about right, once the changes hit later, 168 will be perfect, but only because of her plasticity preventing other HSS's. Charge will ever be her downfall.)
200 range- Crisis Darkseid. Hands down. No other character in the game have i seen absolutely destroy the original CM Galactus (with a good supporting team), but being able to simply deal Penetrating damage, and being able to ignore stealth (conditionally), As much as i like certain other figures, Crisis Darkseid beats out even my personal fav Crisis Spectre of this area, I've seen Spectre go down. Darkseid always took out way more than his points before even getting damaged, typically. Also, Avengers Participation Prize Silver Surfer is unbelievable good (unless you get 3 crit fails in a row. somehow still won that game, holy crap)
250 range- this is a hard one to rate. at this level, even if the figure has to stand on its own merits, you have to put too much thought into the opponent's team. Ye Olde Icons Supes, point for point, and ability per ability.... Has to take the edge, even losing the Soaring that made him completely unbeatable way back when. Next would have to be Supernova's Thanos, lack of Move and Attack of any kind means you have to have support, and at this point range, support is fragile and loss of it devastates the team unless you get an alpha strike in and remove their support or best movement, whereas Supes can pick and choose his strikes.
300- unfair to rate. They all have their pro's, but are also only for epic battles and up, where you'll likely be facing the same opposing character, nullifying any real bonus (although cosmic spidey with the no blocked LoF is nice, Prime basing him is outright rude as well.)
If you count colossals, CM Galactus Stands Supreme. that multi attack alone that never got nerfed can easily devastate other teams designed to go against modern colossal figures without breaking a sweat. With luck, he could probably even go 2 v 1 with other colossals his point value.
I miss? PC it. You hit? PC it. I hit? I can do better, PC anyways. You miss? I DIDN'T SEE SNAKE EYES, PC IT!
