Hey, all. If this has been asked before, I apologize.
Anyway, my question involves the following rules:
BREAK AWAY:
"...On a result of or 6 less, that character fails to break away and can’t move; resolve the action immediately, including assigning that character any action tokens for that action."
HYPERSONIC SPEED:
"...During its move, this character may, as a free action, make one close combat or ranged combat attack with its range value halved for the attack. This character must be in a square where it could legally end its move in order to make the attack."
Now, I know that if you try to break away to use Charge or Running Shot and fail to do so, then you don't get the attack granted by either power. However, HSS obviously works a little bit differently, and if I recall correctly, "during" would include "before" and "after."
My question is this: Could I make a close or ranged attack with Hypersonic Speed before moving, therefore bypassing the possibility of failing a break away roll and ending with no attack at all, or do I have to roll the break away first?

No, it must be done during movement. This includes you breaking away, moving 0 to hit the adjacent character, and then finishing your movement.
HSS always happens during, never before or after.
