Right, missed the mention of "relic" in that post first time through.
What many people seem to do is equate "special object" with "immobile object", which leads to a lot of confusion about what combinations are and are not allowed.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.”
so even though there is no "may begin the game" on the bookcase, it still counts as a special object added to your force?
I would figure that since there is no option and no cost for the bookcase, it would fall under the same clause as caps shield.
so what would be the correct order of events here:
i decide i want to play the utility belt.
i field my force with the utility belt counted towards my point cost.
characters are placed.
the bookcase is added to my force by placing it on bookworms card and that forces me to no longer use the utility belt, or the bookcase cannot be added because i already have the belt.
the thing thats catching me up here is that there is no "may be added" and it happens at the start of the game...
"I've seen EVA take out a belted Tyr... anything can happen"

Okay, let's break this down. The Bookcase does have a character card. It is sold with the Batmobile and can be fielded without Bookworm on your team.

I'M NEVER FAR FROM MY BOOKCASE OF SECRETS: The Bookcase begins the game attached to The Bookworm at no cost.
It can also be played on your team for it's printed point cost. But, if you run Bookworm, whenever Bookworm begins the game, you may attach a Bookcase to him at no cost if you legally can. To attach a Bookcase at no cost, you must not currently have a resource, an immobile object, or three objects already part of your force. If, when you built your force you included any 1 or 2 of these 3 possible options, then you cannot attach a Bookcase and Bookworm simply plays without it. This follows the same ruling as Harvest, Wondergirl, Old Man Logan, the Elders of the Universe, and all of the pieces with trait abilities like theirs.
For example, here is Harvest's trait:
Quote
N.O.W.H.E.R.E.S.'s CONTROLLER: Harvest is a wild card, but may only use the team abilities of friendly characters with the N.O.W.H.E.R.E keyword. Harvest may begin the game with Harvest Staff assigned to him by paying its point cost. This object does not count towards your object total and is scored and removed from the game when Harvest is KO'd.
The correct order would be:
Build a force with Bookworm and a Belt
Begin the game, and Bookworm cannot choose to attach a Bookcase because a resource is present.

That says specifically that the staff does not count towards the object total, meaning you can still have 3 objects, just none of them can be the same type as the staff.....
Yes, Harvest's does. This one doesn't, so it logically follows all of the same restrictions as Harvest's Staff and even more restrictions (the "you can't have 3 other objects" part).

Right, but my point is that you shouldn't use an example for your point that contradicts your point....lol
It doesn't contradict the point, it illustrates exactly what I set out to illustrate: you cannot attach Harvest's Staff and run a Utility Belt or Kinetic Accelerator. His wording is similar enough where that should be clear that it is true for both figures.
