Choose a copyable team ability an opposing character possesses; characters using this team ability can use that team ability for the entire game.
When do you make this choice? Can you make it multiple times over the course of a game to get multiple team abilities out of it? It has neither an activation clause (like, "give a character with this team ability a free action to...") nor a trigger timing (such as "after forces are revealed" or "at the beginning of each turn" or "at the beginning of your first turn" or "whenever a character with this team ability uses outwit" or any other possible trigger condition imaginable).
Also can you choose uncopyable team abilities (it doesn't have the 'except for team abilities that cannot be used by wild cards' clause that other abilities, like thunderbolts have), can you choose ATA's, and can you choose wild card team abilities?
If you have a character with a wild-card team ability who is not a Villain for hire, and you copy this ATA, what happens?
I believe the ATA gives them a wildcard ability that works on your opponents TAs instead of your own at the beginning of the game.
Second, you may NOT choose an uncopyable TA (read third word in your quote). If you choose a wildcard ability it will only work on your team as if you had it.
Third, if a friendly Wildcard copied VFH ATA, they get the one that you picked.
That is my non-orange take on it. I will be happy to find out I'm wrong on some of it
herpderp missed the copyable team ability part when reading it.
I agree that your assessment is almost certainly (almost) what it is supposed to do, but I've seen stranger things than ATAs for 7 total figures in the game which lets you slowly acquire all of your opponents' TAs I suppose.
It is also how I have always played it.
Just making sure though, you did not mention about copying an opposing ATA, I am assuming that this still works (assuming said ATA is copyable) in your opinion?
I would say you could only do this once and it is limited by the line "Unless otherwise noted, game effects only occur once each time they would apply." in the PG.
There is no distinction of when you could use it so it would be anytime.
You can activate the effect only once. "Choose A copyable team ability". Landoman's reference to the PG backs this up.
You can activate this effect anytime during one of your turns that you choose. As stated previously, there is no time specification.
"Wild card team abilities allow a character to use any team ability possessed by any friendly character on the battlefield. A character that possesses a wild card team ability is called a “wild card.” Although wild cards can use team abilities, they do not possess the copied team ability nor do they possess the team symbol. Certain game effects only apply to characters that possess a particular team ability or symbol – wild cards would not qualify for these through using another characters’ team ability."
Based on the above entry from the PG, Wildcards cannot copy the TA your friendly VfH character "can use" from the game effect, because they do not "possess" it.
An ATA works the same as a regular TA in this context and can be used accordingly.

That is correct, however, the character can copy the VFH ATA.
