Regarding Magik's teleportation discs in the AvX set, it states:
Give Magik a power action and choose an adjacent character. Place Magik in any square within range and the chosen character is placed in a square adjacent to Magik. Roll a d6, and on a result of 1-4 the chosen character can’t be given a non-free action until your next turn.
So ... does this mean that her teleportation of an adjacent character always succeeds, even if it is an opposing character? And can she carry a character who is carrying an object? It doesn't seem to give guidance on either of these. I'm new, so maybe I'm missing something.
She's not carrying, she's Placing. There is no stipulation that the character has to be friendly, or any restrictions regarding if the character has an object so feel free to do both!
One more question on this ability ... when she uses it can she ignore blocking / hindering / elevated? It seems that she should be able to if she is teleporting, but it does not say that she can, therefore I assume that she cannot ignore these terrains.
But when it says: " Place Magik in any square within range" and her range is 5, can she teleport from level 1 to level 2, or from the outside of a wall to the inside of the wall?
She can be placed in any square within her range. Placing only cares about the square you want to put her in. As long as the square is valid (doesn't contain blocking terrain or another character) then you can put her there. It doesn't matter what level of elevation or how many walls are between her and the destination square.
from the rulebook:
PLACING CHARACTERS
Some game effects instruct you to “place” your character. When a character is placed, it is not moving. It does not need to break away, and it ignores all characters and game effects between its starting square and the square in which it is being placed

Yes she can go 5 square in any direction. When they say within range. If it said line of sight or fire and range that would mean you need to draw line of fire to the square like Telekinesis.
Also if you increase her range with perplex she can teleport to a max of 8 squares.

Okay, got it. I am new to this, but learning really fast just how precise language is in this game. In plain English, placing a character sounds like moving her, but here they have different meanings. Similar to my confusion in a different post about reducing vs. ignoring. I figured if I ignored 2 damage that it was reducing it, but it is clearly different terms.

Tx again!
Yea, placing vs moving is very important in this game. Also, something to remember is when placing the character, watch the "adjacent" part when dealing with different elevations.
