THE AETHER AND I ARE ONE: Characters hit by an attack from Malekith can't use defense powers until their next turn.
Quote
SUPER SENSES When this character is hit by an attack, you may roll a d6 before damage is dealt. On a result of or , this character evades the attack.
So, I have been told two different things on how these two interact.
I was told that because super senses turns the hit into the miss, you have to check it before you can apply the trait.
The other is that I was told that because you have already "Hit" the character malekith will stop their super senses from being used to turn it into a miss.
I originally thought it was the first one (because I didn't actually know that the wording on super senses states that the attack DOES hit before it is evaded), but had it ruled the other way in a recent event.
The explanation I was given was that the sequence of the attack and when powers happen goes like this.
1. thing causes an attack
2. choose who to hit
3. resolve anything that happens before attack rolls are made (shape change and similar)
4. roll
5. resolve any probability controls
6. check the number against the defense value
--6a. If the attack total is less than defense value attack is a miss
--6b. otherwise attack hits
7. Apply anything that happens when attacks hit, but happen before damage
8. calculate damage dealt
9. calculate damage taken
10. click figures
11. deal knockback, and knockback damage, if applicable.
I was told that malekith's trait begins applying during 6b, and super senses does not apply until 7 (you don't get to super senses unless the attack hits, and if the attack hits then malekith's trait has already begun applying, thus making super-senses in the defense slot not usable in step 7), after actually reading the PAC I changed my mind to one of 'that makes sense'.
Obviously traited supers senses still applies, and super senses granted from things other than "defense powers" (resources, special attack/move/damage powers, special character rules, relics, special objects, feats, battlefield conditions, other characters' powers/effects, etc), but the one in the defense slot gets taken away.
Is this correct, or is there some weird reason why he STILL doesn't take it away?
