Now if your asking can a relic be picked up like an object no it cant but if your asking if he rolls for it and gets it then goes and moves to pick up an object then yes he can because like kgb said he possessed it means you put it on the figs card. You don't hold it during the game you take it off the board and put it on the card.
Characters don't hold picked-up relics the way they hold other objects. The relic is assigned to the character and placed on its card, as stated. The number of objects the character is holding never enters the equation in relation to relics.
This is why "shorthand" is problematic. We refer to a character as "picking up" a relic, but they don't in fact do that. When you roll you are attempting to assign the relic to that character, you are not trying to pick it up to carry it. A successful roll means the relic is assigned to that character, not that the character is holding it. So it has no more effect on your ability to hold objects than having a resource assigned would, and effects that look for carried or held objects aren't triggered.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
