AvX month three, 400 points, at least one fig from the x-men starter.

I find 400 points very akward to build with, so I figured I'd make a thread here. Anyways i'd like to go competitive without going shuma mole man fantomex ect.

I'm having trouble deciding between a tent pole and two 150ish attackers. If I went tent pole it would probably be starter mags or cyclops. If two attackers some combinations of mags, cyke, and/or p5 colossus along with filler/tie up. The only reason I'm not just going with this is the attack values. Only 10s. I'm expecting 19-20 defences, and a 10 just won't cut it.... But phoenix force is the only ressouce allowed; so no book. This, coupled with the fact that x-men lacks cheap prob/perplex.... I'm really un decided. Any advice would be greatly apriciated.

This is a large part of the reason that Avengers are better than X-men. access to cheap perplex and pc. There isn't really anyway around it other than to run with RS+PW alot of the Avengers defenses are base 16-17 its special powers and perplex getting them to 18-19.
So P5 Cyke, AvX Mags, Hope summers for at least 1 perplex are the main three I would look at to start.
AVX Mags 200, AVX Emma 100, Hope 75 + Pf isnt terrible, or you can drop mags to 150 and put in longshot. he helps with his pc and trait.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunitely I only have P5 colossus. I'll definitely toy around with pulse wave more.

If you want a tent pole AvX Magneto is the way to go, and he is well worth the full 200. Longshot is good backup, as is GSX Emma for 81 points. The only decent PC options X-men have are Longshot and the FF Professor X(who also gives Shapechange, so I really like him for his points).

Is it me or does no one ever talk about how useful Legion is for X-Men? He can literally use ANY standard power in the game. Options is what wins the game adaptation to the situation.

Keep jubilee and legion in stealth, they both can perplex if needed. Legion can be your utility guy, whoever or whatever you need he can be (HSS,Outwit,prob,enhance....etc) keep your opponent away with cyk force blast/outwit. Both cyk and long shot have energy shield.

Push/xmen ta hope to click four asap. Same with cloak to his perplex clicks and dagger to her support clicks. Hope copies cloak or dagger's powers depending on if healing or perplex is needed. Cloak and dagger stay hidden in stealth, with dagger adjacent to mags. Depending on the sutuation I stay parked some where with two perplexes, hope's damage special, and an REC blasting away, or RSPW w/two perplexes.

You're onto something, but Cloak 022 is 55 points.
