So next week is my month 2 game. The owner wants to do
400 point Modern
No resources (except Phoenix), no Team Bases, and no Colossals.
1 figure must be from the appropriate starter.
I'm working on an X-men team, but it doesn't have to be because he said he doesn't mind switching sides, so I've got a couple ideas.
The first one I'm playing with is this.
AvX Magneto 150
WatX Rogue 112
WatX Gambit 118
Phoenix Force with Cyclops Shard 18
I'm not sure who to put the Phoenix shard onto. Gambit is a better attacker and would gain the most, Rogue would be hard to kill from absorbing Magneto's Invincible and kickass range, and Magneto is pretty dominant overall.
The idea was to continue my theme from last month of awkward love triangle team-ups (last month I did Jean, Emma, Cyke, Wolverine, and Dark Phoenix) but I'm not married to the idea if someone has something funner.
The other idea is for an Avenger's team. It's
Avx Thor 200
TDW Loki 150
AVM Coulson 50
Thor trots Coulson around, and deals out damage, possibly prioritizing lower point targets while Coulson gives him buffs. Coulson is left alone after Thor dies, but I have the option of postponing Loki's release so I have a nigh-invulnerable Coulson, or just let Loki teleport in and PW tantrum after Thor has softened everyone up.
Additionally, I could play Thor at 100 points, and then I'd be able to toss in an AvX Scarlet Witch or someone else, for more balance and options for Loki to Mastermind onto.
Any feedback or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Most of WatX except for a few primes and chases like Cerise, p5 Cyke, Namor, and Magik. A few bits and pieces from IIM like the Wrecking Crew, Alpha Flight, and Juggs. FI Colossus and the commons and uncommons. A few things from TT, most TBs, most of IM3, ASM, and SoG. Some Batman, some 10th anniversary, and a good chunk of CW (including Avengers Prime) and AVM.
if you wanna get cute with avengers prime u can run this:
AVM001 Captain America
100 AVX003E Thor
125 M10A009E Iron Man
5 ATA064 Secret Avengers
5 ATA064 Secret Avengers
5 ATA064 Secret Avengers
5 ATA064 Secret Avengers
50 FFCW006R Scarlet Witch
12 AVXR100 The Phoenix Force
3 AVXR101 Fragment - Cyclops
3 AVXR102 Fragment - Namor
3 AVXR103 Fragment - Colossus
391 total.
or if you wanna run an xmen team you can do:
FFGSX001 Professor X
100 WXM209 Jean Grey
100 AVX009E Cyclops
100 M10A021R Dark Phoenix
12 AVXR100 The Phoenix Force
3 AVXR101 Fragment - Cyclops
3 AVXR102 Fragment - Namor
3 AVXR103 Fragment - Colossus
both teams are theme if you wanna run theme. the avengers team again is mainly to exploit split merge and you have switch for pc.
the xmen is a little more brute force at range. i like the ff prof for the 8 range pc. since it looks like youre not bound by theme, i guess you can do:
AVX006E Scarlet Witch
76 SOG038 David Cain
98 CW039 Hawkeye
43 ASM210 Spider-Girl
7 ATA016 League of Assassins
12 AVXR100 The Phoenix Force
3 AVXR102 Fragment - Namor
3 AVXR102 Fragment - Namor
3 AVXR101 Fragment - Cyclops
25 SOGV001A Batcycle (Autopilot)
30 FIB002 Skadi's Warbot
400
the map is either water with lots of walls or gorund with a lot of blocking which is why the LoA ata will be handy.
just my 2 cents.

Some of these teams won't work. You calculated the Phoenix Force incorrectly. You forgot to add 3pt for each character assigned a Fragment. It should be 12pts (for the Force itself) + 9pts (3pts each Fragment) + 9pts (3pts for each assigned character) = 30pts. It also says distinct Fragments. I'd think that means you can't use more than one of each.
For what it is worth, ASM#25 Manphibian is amazing for his points if you are playing on the month 2 AVX map. Give him a standard heavy object to smack someone with when he uses the HSS he gets from move and attack, even better give him the Leigon of Monsters ATA to get him plasticity and just leave him next to the target.

(Speed) Creature From the Deep: If Manphibian begins the turn occupying water terrain, modify his speed and attack values by +2.
With his movement special if he starts in water (which is present on both sides of the month 2 map, it fills almost one whole side of one of the maps) it not only removes the penalty from move and attack, but also give him an extra 2 movement to tack on to his HSS.

Reason: Adding the dial
Thanks for the options guys. For some reason, I was overlooking Prof X. I think it's just cause I miss the GSX one. But I'm really thinking about him now. The Avengers Prime combo looks fun as well, and the League of Assassins ATA is pretty killer on these maps. On a side note, I don't know if I want to use Dark Phoenix on my team this month. I used her last month and she was pretty dominating, and I don't want to feel like she's crutch. There's plenty of other options for that team though.
Also thanks for the Manphibian suggestion, Doc. I wasn't even considering an aquatic or monster based team, and he's actually pretty good for the points on Wakanda.
