Before we get into this weeks thread I want to take a second to get any posters acclimated that missed it the first time around. Here's what we did last week.

I mean build the kind of team that would guarantee you sinister looks when you walk into a venue. This might not always be that easy as the figure that I choose may not necessarily be that ridiculous by itself. Once you have posted your team and explained why you think its level of shenanigans is unsurpassed, feel free to name a figure that you think would be a good candidate for next week's thread. I'll be sure to choose one of those as next week's contender. For this week IIM #029a War Machine says... "Break meĦ"

(Special) Variable Threat Adaptation: At the beginning of the game, choose a standard power. When an opposing character attacking War Machine can use the chosen power, modify its attack and damage values by -1 for that attack.
Alot of really brutal teams were submitted for War Machine, but there was one that I thought clearly rose above the rest. I'd like to take just a moment and highlight that team.

75 CW173 Ant-Man(Emma fragment)
60 WXM023B Cerise(Colossus or Majik Fragment)
36 AVXR100 The Phoenix Force (3 Characters, 5 Fragments)
2 ATA056 Avengers (Heroic Age)
2 ATA056 Avengers (Heroic Age)
300
Leave Namor's Fragment on the base.
Now they all have
Flight,
Poison,
Defnders,
X-Men,
Avengers(who Cares...)
From the first click of the Phoenix Resource they get...
+1 Defense
Charge, Blades/Claws/Fangs
and Empower
Ant Man's 20 defense will be shared with all 3 characters. This is easy because he is tiny and can be carried without being an encumbrance.
So All three start with 21 defense. War Machine's trait can (essentially give him 22), ant man's is 22 to ranged attacks, and Cirise can choose ES/D and have 23 to everything. AM and WM can use hindering for another +1 maybe too.
Charge helps them deal with stealth. B/C/F and Empower make Ant man capable of fighting.
War Machine or Cirse can running shot/charge out of the group and Ant-Man can TK them back into it.
All 3 have posion so against characters with no damage reducers, they can possibly go and melt them.
Warmachine can be TK'd to RCE and then cerise can carry ant-man back up to him.
PD and SHIELD TAs work well together.
And the Avengers ATA because it fits and 1/6th of the time it'll be nice.
I just had to hand it to MegaLotusMan on this one. We really did see some very well thought out and creative teams, but this one definitely took the cake in my opinion. You better be having a really good dice day when you face this build or you will be facing one hell of an uphill battle. Kudos sir.
I'd like to thank everyone that took a moment to participate in last week's thread and I'm very excited to see what type of shenanigans people will come up with this week. Hopefully the ideas posted here will be something to inspire both new players and seasoned players alike. So without further ado we will get right into this week's thread. (Special) Demon of the Astral Plane: Opposing characters can't counter Shadow King's powers or modify his combat values unless they can use Mind Control.
(Attack) Xavier's Equal... No, Superior: Shadow King can use Mind Control as if he had a range value of 10. When he does, he is not dealt unavoidable damage, and hit targets may be assigned two free actions instead of one. One of the two actions must be a move action.
(Defense) Pure Psionic Being: Shadow King ignores all but 1 damage dealt by adjacent characters. When Shadow King is dealt damage; after actions-resolve, roll a d6. On a result of 3-6, heal him of 1 damage.
Man-thing carries shadow king up. Give king the ring that increases targets, mind control other characters and move them next to man-thing. That will be some poison damage. And shadow king can harass and be a damage sponge.
Shadow King
Scarlet Witch @ 50 w/ Secret Avengers ATA
Magneto Prime @ 90 Points
Full Powerplant
Using the Black Ring on Scarlet and carrying both Scarlet and SK w/ Magneto, you can provide stealth to everyone each round. SK can do his thing MC the enemy and Magneto can use some of the rings and act as a secondary attacker.
WX Shadow King 122
BS GCPD cycle 19 + gcpd ata 2
CWFF Scarlet Witch 50
NML Bat Girl 67
Split Lip 20
Bos + 4 hammers 18
298
I'd give shadow king mokks hammer to hopefully tie up with the plasticity and use that special defense to its greatest potential. Before he gets into close combat though I would used the gcpd ata to slowly move the cycle up carrying shadow king and scarlet witch so that I could have barrier to block shadow king when needed. Split lip would do his thing dropping hammers and Batgirl would stay in stealth trying to tie up and close attack. Hopefully do enough damage with that 10 range mind control that it makes for easy clean up once everyone has hammers and is in close.
Anyone make a competitive team with Shadow King with some AVX pieces? I really want to run him for my next month's event.
If my venue wasn't running a keyword restriction I might have tried this myself. With any luck someone will take you up on this and we will see a creative AVX build or two. Should be interesting.
