Exactly what everyone is saying. Avoid pulse wave, stealth, and hit him hard. Honestly if i needed a team to beat him at a thousand points, id have P buster, sharon carter, probably 150 (or 100) pt scarlet witch to get rid of Power cosmic (Even though i get rid of it, P buster can still deal penetrating) and now he has no willpower. And thats only 300-ish points. 700 more points to go.
Just thought too, and heard it on a podcast, you know whod really get messed up by this iron man? Thor, the one with odins sword from F.I.
Honestly, a lot of pieces can tangle with thor... just throwing it out there, you really don't need to spend 175 points to fight that thor... plenty of pieces under 100 with PPB/PW... exploit weakness etc.
Especially considering that the Phoenixbuster didn't even succeed...
Not only that, but when I read the OP, I totally saw "Peanut Butter Iron Man", so I am now doomed to call it that forever. Trying to get it out of my head, but it isn't going to happen...
I'd try:
175 pb iron man
45 Sharon Carter
40 Victoria Hand
35 Black Widow (Avengers movie set)
Or even better, to be that guy:
175 pb iron man
50 Scarlet Witch
45 Sharon Carter
30 Full Phoenix Force resource with only Tony attached, giving him the Cyclops fragment.
If I knew I were facing 300 point Cyke and had to build accordingly, I'd go with:
GG Thanos- 150
Earth Man- 98
Enchantress- 50
Total- 298
Earth Man will prevent Cyclops from using running shot, which guarantees my team the first strike. It's just a matter of positioning carefully, and you can knock Cyclops down off his best clicks in one turn never needing to roll higher than a 7 (and with one prob on your side). Combine that with Mystics damage, and Cyclops will have have a rough time of it.
I haven't looked at the higher point options, but that many additional points give you TONS of options.
