Adjacency and leadership

With cosmic boys damage special power:
LONG LIVE THE LEGION!: Cosmic Boy can use Perplex and Leadership. When he uses Leadership, on a result of 6 he may also remove a token from any adjacent friendly character with the Legion of Super Heroes keyword.
Can he remove an action token from himself if he were to roll a 6 for leadership? My understanding is that you are adjacent to yourself and obviously friendly so I think he can.

A character is never adjacent to the square it occupies, and a character is never adjacent to itself.
