INFILTRATE MY ENEMIES: Before placing characters in your starting area, you may choose an opposing character that is 100 points or less not named Copycat. Copycat becomes friendly to that character’s force and that character becomes friendly to your force. Any game effects assigned to each of them is now assigned to the other. When Copycat fails a roll for Shape Change, uses Regeneration, or is knocked out, after actions resolve, this effect ends and any game effects assigned to each of them is now assigned to the other.

Construct: When building your force, you may attach a construct (Lantern) to this character by paying its point cost. Give this character a power action and replace the construct with any other construct, up to 2 points higher than the original construct. If this character has no action tokens and the new construct is a lower point value than the original construct, this is a free action instead.
What happens to the construct attached to a character base when Copycat chooses it for INFILTRATE MY ENEMIES? Will it stay with the Lantern character or would it now be assigned to Copycat? I think I know the answer but I'd like a second opinion.

Looking at the wording I'd say the construct is now on Copycat

See, that's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure how 3D objects attached to a figure base is treated in this situation. You could almost say they become apart of the figures sculpt and have to go with the figure but at the same time the constructs are a game effects that should stay behind.
Assign and attach are different game terms, so Copycat certainly doesn't get the Construct. The question become whether it stays on the Lantern, or just kinda falls off. Seeing as how the Construct is attached through the Lanterns own effect, I'd say it stays with them.
It was recently ruled "attached" is a fancy way of saying "removed from the map and on the character's card". It just allows for a more aesthetically pleasing option.

Where was it ruled? Because if it was ruled that way there could be some potential issues with the Power Battery as those Constructs go exclusively on character cards. Now, if your saying it was ruled that the constructs are technically on the card then the Improved Constructs and Swap a Construct "StarBurst" abilities of the Power Battery could be used to effect the constructs of those independent construct makers like Tomar Tu or Rond Vidar.

Swap a Construct: Give the Power Battery a free action. Exchange a construct between two friendly Corps Members' cards. or the Power Battery and a friendly Corps Member's card.

Improved Constructs: Friendly Corps Members modify their combat values by +1 for each Construct on their character card.

My mistake. I misremembered "off the map" as "on the card". All attached things are officially ruled to be "off the map", they may also be "on the card". I asked about that. I'll let you know if I hear back. My apologies for misquoting that ruling.
