1-level one clear terrain, 2.-level two clear terrain, C.-friendly character b.- barrier (by power) B.-friendly battery O.-Opposing character
Can O (on level 1) attack C either close or range? and can O (level 2) attack C with a range attack? and please explain any other weird interaction in this scenario
The O on level one cannot attack the Power Battery because the intersection between to square of blocking terrain, one printed on the map and the other from Barrier, is still blocking.
The O on level two cannot attack the Power Battery if that is an Indoor Map because blocking terrain goes clear to the ceiling. If it's an outdoor map...I don't know. I think so but I'm not sure.
Jeff, he is talking about characters and a battery. This is correct otherwise.
O1 is able to close combat attack b/c the intersection is between a character and blocking. The least restrictive path is a character so you can close combat attack. As for range, the colossal size of the battery and blocking from barrier block LoF. However, sharpshooter, IM blocking, or IM characters would allow O1 to make that rNged attack providing O1 is not based with the battery or another opposing character.
O2 cannot shoot over the battery because it is colossal size and exists on all levels of the map.
I don't believe being based with the Battery will stop you from making a ranged attack. It's a not an actual character (only acts as if it were a character sometimes) I also believe you don't have to break away from the Battery as once again it's not a character. I may be wrong on this, I haven't actually seen it addressed yet in the many Power Battery threads.

Both of your assumptions are correct. You can shoot while adjacent to it and you do not need to break away from it because it is not a character.

In aspects of moving and "normal attacking," the battery is more akin to blocking terrain than a figure (as you don't need to breakaway and it is not a target in a PW, for example)... but it's not blocking terrain itself so it doesn't "connect" with a barrier to make continuous blocking. Weird, I know, but this is a new and different mechanic in so many ways.
Although if I understand correctly, the Battery acts as a character for LOF... but does that mean if you have IT: figure bases that you can "shoot through it" to hit a character on the other side?
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????

If you have a Barrier go up to the PB it will continue to block LoF just like Barrier going up to a Colossal Character.
Also, per the wording LoF are drawn to it as if it were a character. I cannot see why IT: Characters would not work with the PB since it is treated as a character for LoF.

Right, just like blocking terrain adjacent to a normal figure... the diagram was about close combat attacks, not LOF, though.
I think the part about it acting like a character for LOF is for that very reason... at least, that's the best reason I can figure for defining that. Thanks for the confirmation on those two, though.
