WOL023 Mongul THRALL OF THE BLACK MERCY: When a character with a Black Mercy token would have one or more action tokens removed, remove the Black Mercy token instead. Give Mongul a free action and make a close or ranged combat attack targeting an opposing character with a Black Mercy token regardless of range or line of fire, if he hasn't already attacked that character this turn.
The question is simple: Will a character with a Black Mercy Token remove that token instead of clearing at the end of the turn?
I would also like to know, because you can remove actions with leadership. I'm assuming if you are clearing and using this ability the answer would be no.
The answer is: yes the Black Mercy would be removed and not the action tokens. Also the same would go for leadership as well because leadership removes an action token and instead of removing an action token it will remove the Black Mercy token.

I was thinking more along the line of rolling leadership and get it. Then instead of removing the action token, remove the black mercy token to do the free action. Would he still clear? I assume yes.
In DjJoe example I'm assuming he means, at the end of turn when clearing, he removes a black mercy token instead of clearing to do the free action. I would assume he doesn't clear, because it says instead.

Ask yourself are you removing one or more action tokens when you clear?
If yes, then the BM gets removed instead
If no, then you should re-read the power again. The BM sits on top of the action tokens, metaphorically speaking. You cannot remove action tokens until the BM is gone
