Straightjacket: Relic: 1-6.
This character can't make ranged combat attacks and deals no damage when making a close combat attack. When this character hits with an attack, place this relic on the hit character's card.
If a character who can use Pulse Wave has this relic, can they use PW as a ranged attack since it would ignore the game effect of the straightjacket? If so, how is it determined who would get the relic if there was more than one target in the wave, or would this in essence not do anything leaving the character using PW with the straightjacket since PW is ignoring the effect of the relic altogehter? If not, why not?
oh my bad, had to pull out a PAC to double check, thought that it could be used as either a ranged or melee action, didn't notice it only says ranged action that can be used even if adjacent. my same question then could be posed for quake, who would the relic go to if it hit more than one character?
Pulse wave is a range combat action that may be made out of adjacency. It is not activated by a close combat (melee) action. I would think that the straight jacket doesn't allow its wearer to use pulse wave.
I would think that for a Quake, (would still deal "0" damage, though) it could be any hit character/target of the quake. None will take damage, but it's your choice of who gets the jacket (there's only the 1 jacket).
Actually you don't draw a line of fire to yourself, that's why you can't do this. Otherwise a character using pulsswave would
A: Be damaging itself with the attack
B: Would ignore its own powers, abilities, feats, relics and resources assigned when using pulse wave.

Huh... good question on the Quake. It doesn't say you can't use any certain close combat powers, only ranged attacks... so yeah, I would think the Quake would deal no damage and you could choose an opponent to get hit. Huh... can anyone else show a reason this wouldn't work?
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????

Off the top of my head... No I can't. However, I would check with the rules team on this and send it in via email.
