It just another way that NECA/Wizkids can separate themselves from the street level consumer. Since they have taken over, the distance between the developers, testers, the rest of the company men, and the players has grown wider and wider.
They care very little about the actual game playing experience as long as they are still selling merchandise. This is exemplified by the removal of the judge qualification process and judges only forum, the removal of the play testing department at Wizkids, the elimination of official tournaments west of The Rockies, the low quality of paint/sculpts in recent sets (essentially a lack of quality control), smaller more expensive OP kits (from 10 LE's to 4) and finally the lack of planning when releasing sets so that players can play and enjoy the products purchased without having to buy additional product for awhile (3-4 releases a year to approx. 15).
If they are going to make the judges the final ruling on everything, they need to make sure those judges know what they are doing. In addition, we should be posting what the judges have ruled, since they are the final word, without an official comprehensive catalog of rule interpretations. An official Wizkids site full of official rulings does not exist.
In addition, this decision makes this forum obsolete and no further rules questions should be posted here, as the answer will not be quotable during a tournament. Only emails directly from the official email source can be accepted as official rules interpretations. Even a restating here will not be a valid source. It essentially makes this place Wikipedia, which is not an acceptable source, ever. Although if you see someone else's posted reply, you could use it for inspiration and send an email with the same question to get your own information from a valid source.
So accept the judge's ruling, right or wrong (even if it is the substitute judge that hasn't read a rulebook since 2009), send your email and wait for the response, then present the printed message to the judge the following week or year if it is at a major tournament like Gencon.
The playing experience is of no concern if you already bought it.
We have already been informed that a quoted email on a forum is just as official as the email itself.

They obviously still care about game playing experience as we still receive errata to figures that are excessive.

The judge has always been the final word, wether he knows what he's doing or not. The judge is right even when he's wrong. If your judge is not a judge, replace him.

This forum existed before official Wizkids answers were provided here and is not obsolete even if it's value has been lessened. When the majority of questions can still be answered from the Rulebook, this forum will still serve a purpose. When this forum can still deliver rulings via other payers who asked and might be able to copy/paste sooner than you get an email back, this forum still has purpose.
