This has been ruled as stated above. Malekith and Agent 13 only stop defensive powers in the defense slot. See my sig for a list of characters that work similarly. As pointed out above, the power would need to say "standard defense powers" to stop all defense.
Agent 13 could not stop an entities shared d power because agent 13 is never adjacent to the entity.
Heads up! I messaged the rules team about Agent 13 and Malekith and will post the answer here. I threw in Malekith just because I wanted to make sure it was still the same. I believe it will be but hey I like to cover my @$$.

Both of the quoted effects refer to powers showing specifically in the defense slot of the characters dial. Neither of those powers will have any effect on powers not showing the the defense slot of the affected characters dial.
It should also be reminded that Malekith's works much different than Agent 13 and some others with similar powers. The difference being that characters attacked by Malekith that have Super Senses and sp's that have the same timing as SS will have a chance to roll for SS and the like as where those adjacent to Agent 13 will not. This wording is important to note for the reasons I just pointed out and how it affects pieces like Iron Paladin. His sp also works before SS even tho it is triggered by an attack, the timing in the sp is different than Malekith's.
SWORD OF FAITH: Opposing characters can't use defense powers when they are the target of Iron Paladin's close combat attack.
This triggers when he targets which is before the roll and well before SS.
THE AETHER AND I ARE ONE: Characters hit by an attack from Malekith can't use defense powers until their next turn.
This one triggers when he hits and SS technically happens before a hit even tho it really doesn't but by clix logic/timing it does.

Heroclix rules/game logic cannot be associated or compared to anything else. Real World; Comic Book; Physics; Language; Nursery Rhyme; logic cannot be used when discussing Rules/Game logic.

This, to me, defeats the English languish... I'm not saying you're wrong, but what the hell??? It, simply, doesn't make any sense (to me) that way.
It's not that it defeats the language, it just uses it in a very specific way. You can't read it like "normal English," but it does follow a very specific game logic where the words are very specific and synonyms may be close, but are different enough. Even in "normal English," someone could say something is "cold" or "freezing"... both can be said about the same thing and mean the same thing, but they are drastically different (as 60 degrees may be "cold," but it has to get below 32 to be "freezing"). Heroclix is just much more specific in the language.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
