OK. So I've gotten myself into a two-day, two-part, old-school tournament this coming weekend. Here are the rules for Day One…
1.) 300-point Build Total
2.) Theme-teamed Based
3.) No ATAs, BFCs, or FEATs
4.) Figures allowed are Golden Age Only
5.) 16-Team Bracket Formation
6.) 4' x 8' Gaming Table Format
Interesting X Force team. I think I'd go a different route if it's a highly competitive venue where you actually are likely to run into things like Sentry/Void, KC Green Lantern, Ult Thor and other top tiers of old. However if you really enjoy the team and have some plan for positioning it against those teams go for it. I'm not clear on what objective based means, but my first thought is the objective tokens from Mage Knight 2.0. Boom Boom seems like a good choice for the rear token if that is the case if for nothing more than being 14 points.
"Objective-based" means that whatever team you field must complete a certain Mission Objective (i.e. cross the map, rescue a hostage, etc.) within the Game Time Limit.
My opponent's lack of a Team Ability helped me tremendously. It came down to a fully-healed Cable versus Ultron, who had taken a couple of hits early on. Bad die rolls on the part of my opponent, coupled with 2 Critical Hits from Cable, and staying with my hit-and-run tactics, won me the day.
I walked away with an Illyana Rasputin (Limited Edition; Critical Mass; #213), something I ain't seen in years.
