i think that i lost a friend last friday, because i completely took his whole black-order-team off by fielding Mentor.
his black-order-team:
GOTG025 Ebony Maw
GOTG046 Black Dwarf (with shellhead)
GOTG048 Supergiant
GOTG049 Corvus Glaive
GOTG050 Proxima Midnight
my eternal-team:
GOTG032 Starfox
GOTG058 Mentor
IIM041A King Hyperion
trait of mentor:
Quote
I MUST TRY AND KILL MY SON: Characters named Thanos, Thanosi or with the Black Order keyword modify their defense values by -1 and can't use traits or team abilities.
it was really nasty to see him go down and i feal a bit guilty because he told me on thursday what he will bring to the table.
in round two i won again with this negative zone team:
GOTG053 Annihilus
GG023 Blastaar
GG031 Captain Marvel
just because the other two players didn't realized how nasty two strong pulse wavers are.
in round two, my dark-x-men was slaughtered very easy by my two oponents, but that didn't matter at all and i won a op-kit-monthly Angel.
just for everybody to know: better have Mentor with you, if you're facing the black order...
You should feel bad, especially if you knew beforehand what his team was and chose to build your team using the one figure in all of clix that completely neuters the Black Order. Most games can be won if you know exactly what your opponent is playing beforehand and can build to counter it.
well, i felt bad about it, because i didn't think that it will be THAT hard for him.
lesson learned and btw.: i gave him whizzer as a present last friday, because we are all friends at our venue.
Why should you feel bad, I never reveal my team until it's time to play. When you do that, it's an invitation to build a strategy around it. I don't even tell my best friends what i'm playing just for that reason. I hope your friend learned a valuable lesson.

... Screw the Mentor silver bullet. I'll just hit hard, then just TAP each Black Order monkey off their last click, and take minimal damage for my trouble. seriously...
"A" is "A". And no matter what universe he's from, Luthor... is Luthor.

Yeah because playing your team with -1 stats and no traits for proximity or ebony is awesome....
Yeah, it sucks when you spend the whole week thinking about playing your team and your friend brings a team that makes it so you might as well didn't come. I'd be pissy too.
oh come on! it's one game out of dozens and everything is fine now between us.
i really didn't thought, that it will be THAT hard for his team.
and btw. i don't think i will bring mentor again in the near future, because i'm not very interested in the eternals and there's a ton of other characters waiting for me to be played.
I have neverl played a Black Order team. But I have had to play against them several times. They are NOT fun to play against.
If that is what your friend brought to a tournament AND he told you about it in advance, he's INVITING you to build against that team. You shouldn't feel bad, you did exactly what he wanted.
