Ok, me and my friends play hero clix alot, usually 3-4 of us, and alot of times we have to go back to the rules if somethings been changed, or enlightened or what not. But here are a few that im sure have been answered a dozen times, but my head hurts when reading too much ####. ok anyway. My friend makes maps, hes an artistic guy and he likes doing things like this. he made an outdoor map with 2 buildings on each side, and a wall(doesnt take up any squares, just a line going around)for blocking terrain around the buildings with 1 exit.
To make a long story short(too late! (clue! ruled)) we always seem to have the same discussion, can you make a ranged combat attack at a character who is on the ground on the opposite side of the wall while flying or standing on the building (building is 2 squares away from the wall)?
Also I just read that a map cannot be indoors and outdoors, does blocking terrain rules change for the 2 types of maps?
ok first a grounded character can fire at somone soring but only has half range (if 10 on dial can fire at a range of 5) the flying fig can not fire at a ground fig at all. If you are on a building and firing at some on on the ground it is what ever you dial is. and hindering and blocking have no effect if thay are not on it. you can also shot the fig on the buliding. Hope i helped.
ok, your saying a grounded character can make a ranged combat attack against a soaring character(1/2 range of course) but the flying(soaring) character can not fire at a ground figure at all?
forget the scenario for what me and my friend did, im not sure but your saying soaring characters cannot shoot at any ground figures?
Correct, the rules book says "Soaring characters can affect only other soaring characters." I believe the only thing they can do to the ground is make barriers and smoke clouds. Soaring characters cannot attack grounded characters or characters on buildings.
Soaring Characters may not fire on non soaring characters. It's a game balance issue. If you could shoot down from soaring, then there would be no point to using figures such as Thing or Rhino. Your opponent would just take his flying rangers up to soaring and pick you off at leisure.
As to your original question, the wall would block line of fire from the elevated figure to the grounded figure on the other side, and vise versa. Barriers have the same effect.
