You know what? I just checked, and as an uncommon 350 point 5 star fig, this character is the best single character who isn't colossal, EVER. W00T! (Thanos ties, but he's much rarer, so Brainiac has to take the honor.

Would Banshee's trait bypass Brainiac's defense power? I ask because Banshee's power does not say counter or ignore, it just says the opposing character "can't use...but can use Toughness instead."

IT'S GOING TO GET A LITTLE LOUD: Opposing characters within 6 squares can't use Super Senses. Opposing characters within 6 squares can't use Impervious, Invincible, or Invulnerability but can use Toughness instead. When Banshee hits a character that can't use a power due to this trait, increase damage dealt to that character by 1.

The answer appears to be yes and no. He can't use impervious only toughness. However, as the first click of damage will reveal a click that says "stop turning the dial" and Banshee's trait only specifies the target can't use impervious, invincible, or invulnerability (not the 'stop-click' portion of the power) you would stop turning as soon as a click was revealed.

Sure, it would bypass it. But note that Brainiac here also has Impervious. Thanos' trait does not ignore damage reducers, so it would still deal 1 damage at most (if the second option is chosen and Brainiac fails the impervious roll).

But the Impervious would never trigger, as Brainiac starts with Mastermind so he would take 3 and be on click 4 as Thanos' trait is not an attack so the stop click would not happen and you would not get a chance to roll for Impervious. This is what I think he was asking about.

I don't get the opportunity to play him often, but he's still the king of my Superman Enemies squad. He has single-handedly taken out a M10 Dark Phoenix @ 300pts AND a FI Thor LE. (SLoSH Validus *did* help to keep Thor occupied while Brainiac first wailed on Phoenix)

My second favorite 300-350 pointer ever, just barely behind AoU Hulk. I JUST noticed that his My Ship And I Are One allows for a close combat ACTION instead of just an ATTACK, so he can Exploit or Quake with it.

This Brainiac isn't bad, but hasn't aged well. His activation click is just sad(350pt for perplex is meh, but then they gave him Mastermind like you actually want to keep him on it?!). His double power action allows him to do a Ranged combat ACTION, but he never has one to use on the few clicks he actually has that SP on. His powers give him "options", but subtract from the synergy (Flurry/PW, Charge/PB) and he has too many printed 3 damage clicks for a piece that is over 300pt AND comes with an activation click. You can build around him to make him work, but he is best played in very high point games to give you the time to "activate" him.

Pretty much worthless, under the new PAC. If he can't push off of that first click, then all that you have to do is gain a point advantage and ignore him. Personally, I've always found him underwhelming. The damage reduction was nice, but the combat values were unimpressive. Furthermore, I found his first click to be a major handicap. I don't want to devote a 350 point character solely to a Perplexing role, even if the target can be anywhere on the map. I have to believe that the 11 click dial with Superman Enemy TA was a major cause of his combat values suffering.
