How is targeting 2 characters an exception? I dunno wtf hungrygnome is talking about. I never mentioned the word perplex. Just leadership but, hg isnt even close on that one. Again, you wouldn't have range to PW. if you did. It deals supes a net of 0 damage. I don't see how thats debatable. One last time though, I would not play supes in a 300 pt game and neither would the original poster since their nerdament was 2 days ago.

You're right, targeting two characters is not an exception. But when you have a lot of Perplex and a huge reach, that generally allows you to more easily pick your targets, meaning that you can often pick only one and deal full damage.
Like I said, try it and you'll see.
I *gave* you guys my favorite 300 point modern team. And it's my favorite because it ternds to work.
I've used a very similar team to the Iron Man team and will confirm that using that type of range combined with Bat Signal is effective against a large number of teams, tactics heavy or not.
While my build was not the same, the range and damage output were comparable. Frequently my opponent never even rolled the dice, so comparing the rest of the dials is rather unimportant.
Teams I had problems with:
Stop Click tentpoles + mobility support
SLOSH Bizarro (pre nerf, but significant to highlight the play style)
Barrier stall teams
High printed defense values (19+ leaves you at the mercy of the dice)
About half of the "RoC Clone" Teams (direct copies, possible the other half were poorly played rather than actual easy matches)
Easy matches
OMA or unsupported tentpoles (ex: two 150 pt attackers)
Stealth based teams
Most semi competitive theme teams in the area (Guardians of the Galaxy, Thunderbolts, Gotham City)

What im talking about is that , unless Superman is in the Pulsewave, and his leadership ability has activated, they still get the +1 DEF. Because the effect comes from Superman, he must be in the pulsewave in order for pulsewave to be able to ignore it. I was just giving other examples of figures where Pulsewave does NOT ignore something. I wasnt referring to superman/despo taking one a piece. I was referring to THIS
It was mainly just a reminder to people that Pulsewave doesnt ignore EVERYTHING, just only things originating from a figure a LOF was drawn to.
So if Superman made his leadership, and a friendly KC flash was on the board, his DEF would be 20. Even vs a Pulsewave, his DEF would still be 20 unless SUperman was also in the pulsewave, as it cannot ignore effects that originate outside the pulsewave.

Good post. Yeah, pulse-wave only ignores things within its area of effect that can be ignored (except Lantern batteries). Boosted up ranges really help with that, for which the SHIELD ATA really comes in handy. Against Trinity teams (from Trinity War), the stealth Batman gives will still be in effect if, say, Supes or Wonder women is the target of pulse-wave, and if Bats is not in the area of effect.

I wouldn't say that I use this particular team a lot, but I have used them about seven or eight times. Which teams have I used them against, though. Hmm. I know there was at least one write up I did in the "what did you play and how did you do" thread in the Combat Formations forum, where I played them in a particular tournament: http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showpo...9&postcount=88
I know I've played them a couple other times, and also two, maybe three times as part of a larger force. In that situation, of course the entire dynamic changes, but I use them as the alpha strike, to try to cripple or at least slow down the biggest threats. At least once I used them in a battle royale, though I cannot remember what teams I played against. I know in that instance I had them on a large team with Max Lord, Wonder woman, and I can't remember who else, and I'm pretty sure I won that. But I use them to chase down figures like Superman and anyone else who's a big threat and who has high mobility: the ones who hit and run for big damage. That's basically their big thing, to go where the threat is hiding and neutralize it. One thing I don't think I've played them against is a KC Flash team. That would be a fun challenge.
And as you mentioned earlier, the smart players will go after Rescue and get rid of her, but that's usually after the damage has been done, in which case Iron Man can likely clean up.
One other similar thing I wanted to try, but which doesn't quite fit the 300 Modern format, is War Machine prime and Rescue. I have used War Machine prime + Atomica (fast forces), which is effective, but doesn't quite have the same reach, nor does it have pulse-wave. Nor is it a theme team. Maybe I'll try a larger team of WM prime, Rescue, and Tony Stark, and see how that plays out.

Thanks for that feedback. I can see stop click teams and swarm teams like the recent Ultron teams being difficult. And also the "unkillable" ones like I've seen recently, such as Deadman + Rez Man + other. In 300 points, you only have so many actions or options.
