I am thinking of running this team for some upcoming play:
GOTGM103 Gamora 100 pts
GOTG003 Mantis 56 pts
GOTGM102 Rocket Raccoon 75pts
FIB002 Skadi's Warbot 30pts
ATA011 Guardians of the Galaxy [x3] 12 pts total
The Book of the Skull with 7 hammers 27pts
300pts even
Map = 05a Black Mercy Garden Outdoor [grants targets a -3 to defense when targeted by Mind Control]
Strategy: Main attacker is Gamora, focus heavily with her trait:
Quote
DEADLIEST WOMAN IN THE WHOLE GALAXY: Give Gamora a free action and choose an opposing character. When Gamora attacks the chosen character, modify her attack and damage values by +1. Gamora can't choose again until the chosen character has been KO'd.
Using Mantis to target Gamora with Mind Control and have Rocket tag-along on Gamora.
I'm definitely not a good player, but what if you took out the Warbot in favour of the Phoenix Force? That way you can possess Gamora with a shard, and give her flight and poison.
Not a bad plan at all - using the book without splitlip you are slowing down your hammer equipping which could turn into an issue if you get alpha striked

Yeah, playing Splitlip would help speed things up, but I would lose the Theme Team and subsequently the ATA and then lose map roll... Too bad one of the hammers doesn't allow improved movement ignore hindering...

Kinda hoping that's sarcasm. Kurrth grants IM: Hindering and Greithoth give you great size which give all the same movement advantages as flight. Still not having splitlip will slow the distribution of hammers to a point where they are actually hindering your team instead of helping.

The flight and poison is only gained if your use the fragments as relics, not as part of the Phoenix force.
I also agree Split lip is a given for you BoS. Maybe you should Go with a full PF keep your Theme and lpay with 3 frags on the base and give Rcket and Gamora the Emma and Magic frags. That way you share the Namor, Cyc, and Colossus ablities. Just a thought.

Nope. If you assign them to characters through the Phoenix Force, they give flight and Poison. The ones that remain on the base are the only ones that don't grant flight and Poison.

As well as the Character powers? Not how I read it. The side of the card that grants Flight and Poison has a separate cost 10pts. and is considered a relic, needing a roll to acquire 5-6.

He is referring to the text on the phoenix force which reads.

This shows that when assigned from the resource the fragments are relics, thus granting poison and flight as well as the power, at no cost. The other side of the card is the power that you can share with the rest of your force assigned a fragment.
