I'm building a 300 point team with the thoughts of playing it in the upcoming roc season. The team so far includes ff NFAoS fitz, with NFAoS agent coulson. The dilemma I'm running into are the 2 hawkeye options I have at my disposal. I have the ff aou hawkeye at 75 points or the avas hawkeye at 85 points. Both only have a 7 range with 2 targets, but the avas one keeps my shield theme team going. The team with ff aou hawkeye is 200 point leaving me 100 points left or 210 with the avas hawkeye. Opinions on which one would work better
Since ATAs and Theme Team Probs are not going to be able to be used in ROC, I would say the FFAOU Hawkeye for 75 points would be a better choice and with the extra 100 points, I would pick up a Black Widow for your team. If you use the FFAOU Black Widow for 75 points, when they are adjacent, both characters get +1 Attack and +1 Defense, which means at first click, Hawkeye would have a 12 Attack, 18 Defense. On his third click, with his The Deadly Hawk special, he could have up to a 14 Attack (with Energy Explosion), 19 Defense, and 3 Damage at Range. Black Widow would have 12 Attack (Precision Strike) and 18 Defense on first click. On third click, with her Deadly Widow special, she would have up to a 14 Attack, 19 Defense, and 3 Damage up close. You would have to be careful how you maneuver them together to figure out a way to bring Black Widow in close while leaving Hawkeye open to make ranged attacks.
Chaos War Hawkeye fits the bill here; I think ROC age includes that set. He can wild card to Avengers Initiative if need be, and has the shield keyword as well. He has a glass jaw for his points, but he has a very strong attack value on almost every click.
The cw hawkeye is golden age. The issue I have with going with the 75 point ff aou hawkeye is it breaks my theme team, and since I don't have pc or outwit, so while the black widow would be a nice combo I still have no pc or outwit.
Can I ask what you rationale is for choosing Fast Forces Fitz over the standard set Fitz? Is it just for access to HENRY?
If you use standard set Fitz with his Hoverbots, he saves you 15 points (35 vs. 50). The Hoverbots can use the Defense powers of both Fitz and Simmons. If you include the standard set Simmons, she will give you the Outwit (which would be multiplied by the Hoverbots) as well as an extra set of eyes for the Field Team Backup prob that would work on both Fitz and Coulson. This would give you room for standard set Coulson, Hawkeye, and Black Widow (each 75 points) for a total of 295 points.
Alternatively you can substitute Eric Koenig for Simmons. He is an extra 5 points, bringing you to an even 300. With his Stolen tokens, he could get access to Outwit, Prob Control, and Perplex. It's a bit more unstable than Simmons in some aspects although his PC would be a bit more flexible in its usage.
P.S. I had been led to believe that Theme Team Probs were not allowed in ROC this year (no tactics). If this is not true and you want a SHIELD theme team in order to get access to TTPC, the AVAS Hawkeye might be a better bet for you. I would still substitute FF Fitz for standard set Fitz and add in Simmons to give you the multiple Outwits through the Hoverbots. With Coulson, this would give you 230, meaning you would have 70 points to fill up the team. You could pop in Peggy Carter for her Saboteur ability to wipe out the team ability or a specific power from several opposing characters at once potentially.
