Nope. I have some old PACs, but I spot checked a PDF from 2006 and as far back as that, it never had anything to do with close combat. The update you would have read, however, definitely would not have said anything about close combat. KC used to say this:

Whenever an opposing character given an action attempts to move from a non-adjacent square into a square that is adjacent to a character using the Hyper time team ability, it must roll a d6. On a result of 1-2, the opposing character cannot move to any square adjacent to the character using this team ability that turn. Characters using this team ability ignore them on opposing characters.

Now, however, it says this:

KINGDOM COME - When this character would be hit by a range attack, if the attacker doesn’t have [Kingdom Come Team Ability Symbol], you may roll a d6. On a result of 5-6, this character evades the attack. Uncopyable.

Not trying to be a dink here, just reinforcing how important it is to quote effects, read the effects (and not just second hand, even a quick update to something) and make sure you know what the effect says.

Because you're right, all that matters if you have the right wording now.

yeah, and at the time I didn't look it up he did and showed me something stating that it was changing from said ability I stated earlier to what it is now which was the correct ability. I guess I just assumed that is what it was before it got changed.

well you can counter the ability that prevents you from using the power - it will end the effect. It works at least with balls of fury sp dmg power.
