You get no bonus from shellhead with Kyle due to him having the indomitible defense shield and not the standard one.
Weeell, yes and no. Shellhead won't kick in on every click, but not because he has Indomitable. It's because he lacks damage reduction on every face. Double-check the requirements. ;) You're partially right, though!

If you look up in the upper right corner of Shellhead it has: :d-normal: +2. Meaning that you actually have to have the :d-normal: to get that +2. Kyle has :d-indomitable:, meaning he would never get the +2. So no Shellhead doesn't work on Kyle or any other :d-indomitable: character.
See, I don't know about Kyle here. I had success with the Crisis Kyle on that wonderful first click, but beyond that, well, anyways, back to this one. I didn't get Kyle here at first. I thought his cost was pretty high for what he brought to the table, and it is pretty high, but his true value comes as an ultimate utility piece. To be able to use TK to move your pieces for free every turn as long as he doesn't have an action token is pretty nice. His up front Perplex only adds to his utility niceness. Ideally, you would not have to use him for combat, so I wouldn't recommend him for small point games, but his board mobility options make him an Idea TK piece for large point JLA and Green Lantern Corps teams. Just try not to action him and he should get his worth.
Logan:I'm an X-Man and on 2 Avengers teams.
Mockingbird:How the hell do you do that?
Logan: Multitasking. Its my mutant power. Dont tell anyone.
The combo of Kyle Rayner plus DC 75th Guy Gardner easily took down the SR Thanos in a game I played the other day. They basically said to Thanos, "come at me bro" and when he did, Kyle placed Guy adjacent to Thanos via TK and then Guy went to town with 5 pentrating damage (via Kyle's perplex). I wasn't too fond of Kyle at first cuz his high point value had me believing that he always needed to be on the front lines as a tank. Once I started playing him behind the scenes, he became much more useful.
Guy Gardner solves his problems with a chainsaw and he never has the same problem twice...
played a 1000pts GL/JLA vs Sinestro Corps game the other day, after slaughtering my opponent, he awarded man of the match to Kyle, even though he spent the whole game sat in my deployment zone using nothing but free actions
in a 300pt game he's a 2 out of 5
in 500pt+ games he's a game changing 5 out of 5
Wow....perplex and Energy shield deflection at 18 gives kyle a 21 defense at range and 19 against close quarter attacks. He's really hard to hit top dial, he has very hood attack values.....but horrible damage values. Its almost insulting to put one of his few 3 damage clicks on his 16 dv with regen.....
I actually always have good luck with him despite his high cost. even in games i lose Kyle manages to do well, sure there are better TK'ers out there these days but he's still a good support figure/secondary attacker anyway and I don't feel dirty playing him like I do the new Kyle.
