Was noodling around with some TMNT theme teams and discovered something kinda neat. There are five main universes represented in the TMNT HeroClix sets, right? Original (1984) comics, original (1987) cartoon, Archie (1988) comics, IDW (2011) comics, and current (2012) Nickelodeon cartoon. Sure, the Foot Tech and the upcoming Cyber Shredder are repping the 2003 cartoon, but as there aren't any Turtles from that universe yet, it's hard to give much weight.
Since April O'Neil from TMNT1- the 1984 Comics version of April - is 30 points, it's possible to make a TMNT + April team at exactly 300 points using one Turtle from each of the other four universes. All the 2012 Turtles from set 1 are 60 points, all the '87 Cartoon commons from set 2 are 60 points, all the IDW Turtles from set 2 are 100 points, and all the Archie commons from set 3 are 50 points. 30 + 60 + 60 + 100 + 50 = 300.
The question then becomes, which Turtle from each universe? Assume you've gotta have a Leo, a Donnie, a Mikey, and a Raph on your team- no doubling of turtles or universes. Which one do you choose for which? My initial thought is 2011 Leo, 87 Donnie, 2012 Mikey, and 88 Raph, so that Leo and Donnie can make a Defend chain to complement April's special power. But I'm curious what everyone else thinks.
If that's the case, I have these as my 300 pt team with a Turtle from each Universe:
Since I almost always play with 400 pt teams, my choice for fillers would be:
and
(yeah, I know I'm repeating Universe with that last one, but until they release a 55 pt. TMNT or TMNT Ally from the 2003 Animated Universe, I choose Renet)
Valid team! I hadn't put the Chases in since I don't personally have any of the B&W ones, and the chases from set two don't have nice swappable point totals the way the other turtle-sets do. ^_^;; How does that Splinter work out for you? Haven't had a chance to play him yet.
They told me the best B&W TMNT are Mikey or Raph, so I had to choose either, so you can swap them, specially because the Space Mikey has (I think) PC and the team I designed sorely lacks it if played at 300 pts... hope you can complete your collection!
As for that Splinter, I've played him twice now, and my opponents 'fear' him because of it's Shape Change and leave him until the end to finish him. As a tie-up piece he's good. Hopefully I'll post another team I thought of the other day.
