I got him in the pre-release. He was underwhelming to me. 120pts, No SynSin TA means he is gonna be stuck with that 10 attack. The bee thing...meh, any team running figs with reducers just doesn't care about them.
I also despise SC & SS, but mainly because I can't seem to roll a 5 or 6 when I have to...
Also, the bee swarms get poison, but the guy who is MADE OF BEES never does???
If you gave him toughness or invulnerability could you only damage him by rolling doubles?
No. If you hit him for 5, he only takes 1. If you hit him for 1, he only takes 1. Triceraton and Zog from TMNT2 are a good example. If you give him Toughness, he won't take damage from poison or 1 damage attacks, but he will still take damage from values higher than that, but only a maximum of 1.
It's 1 damage maximum from attacks unless it's doubles, not minimum, if he had a damage reducer he'd reduce the damage like normal surely, even if it was only 1. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that doubles is the only way to damage him in that case as there are ways to inflict penetrating damage without attacking (I really miss SR ASM Ghost Rider).
I like this figure a lot but it doesn't have good keywords to be played with anyone else in the set and the fun part (the bees) can only be placed if you hit something which proved surprisingly difficult with only a 10 attack.
Swarm, Vermin, and the box set Ant-Men are a very nice 300pt "Swarm" team though, I had bees, rats, and ants all over the place.
The link you provided supports what Avarice said...
The thing most people miss when thinking about this figure is that it says he TAKES 1 damage. That is NOT the same as the damage he is DEALT.
Let's say Swarm has Invulnerability and he gets hit for 2 damage. The damage dealt is reduced to 0 so he TAKES 0 damage. If he gets hit for 3, the damage dealt is reduced to 1 and he TAKES 1 damage. If he gets hit for 6 damage, the damage dealt is reduced to 4 and he TAKES 1 damage.
Invulnerability (and similar abilities) reduce the damage dealt, not the damage taken.
You're better off asking these questions in the rules section, but yes, under the new rules, he would become the target of the attack and would take only 1 damage unites it was doubles.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
