Clarification for ADW 051 Dr. Strange, Earth's Guardian?
The ruling in question.
"...When Dr. Strange, Earth's Guardian is KOed, after actions resolve deal 2 unavoidable damage to the friendly character occupying a square closest to the square Dr. Strange, Earth's Guardian last occupied..."
"mac wrote:
Player 1 is using Dr. Strange and has two friendly figures adjacent to him. Player 2 KO's Dr. Strange. Does player 1 or player 2 decide which of the two friendly characters adjacent to Strange to take the 2 unavoidable damage?
The player controlling Dr. Strange gets to choose who to deal the 2 unavoidable damage to."
My question for folks is how does this not fall under the "Active Player chooses" usual caveat? For some reason I was under the impression that in resolution of things where multiple choices for something that was a singular thing the active player chooses.

The active player rule only applies when there's multiple effects happening simultaneously. The active player just gets to choose the order on how to apply the effects.
Here, there aren't multiple effects happening simultaneously. It's just one effect with multiple choices. The controlling player gets to choose who to apply the effect to.

This makes sense. Thanks!
