ONE LAST EARTHLY MISSION: When another friendly character is KO'd, place a Resurrection marker in a square they last occupied. Give Green Lantern a free action when she is adjacent to a Resurrection marker, you may choose the name of a friendly character with a point value of 10 or more that has been KO'd and hasn't yet been chosen this game. Replace the Resurrection marker with a KO'd character with that name and give Green Lantern an action token, if possible. Turn the KO'd character to any click it have been on this game. At the beginning of your next turn, remove that character from the game but don't score it.
If another character is occupying the same square as the resurection marker, can they be resurected?
Bottom Line:
A character can occupy the square with the marker in it, and the resurrected person would have to be placed adjacent to that square (and GL) or in the nearest square to the marker if there are no legal adjacent squares.

Both of these answers are wrong.
The only reason the Adam Strange ruling works is because the placement is not optional. You can't willingly choose to violate the rule of occupancy. You only get to choose a different square if the placement isn't optional.
Green Lantern would not be able to replace the Resurrection marker with a character if someone is on it.

Closest comparison I can think of would be trying to call in the KC figs on their single click dials. They ruled you couldn't call them in, not that they were placed in the closest legal square.
I was actually trying to find the old ruling for Spiral and her portal, but to no avail. If I'm remembering correctly, it basically comes down to not being able to activate the effect if you wouldn't be able to place the character where you're required to, ie; the old "plug the hole" strategy against Spiral.
I don't see why that wouldn't also apply here. As PredatorSmurf said, the quoted Adam Strange ruling is only for cases in which the placement is non-optional.

Thats different. A KC character on their Isolated click cannot start the game adjacent to any character. That is why they cant be used for ID Call In or for the Resurrection Token that GLs power allows to be placed. In both instances the powers/effects require the character to be adjacent to another in order to be brought onto the map.

Yea. I re-read that link after reading your answer. You are correct.
You're taking an action to place a character into a predetermined square. That should be bound by the rule of occupancy the same way that Overdrive is when he generates a charged up bystander so you could not do it if the square you need to place it in is occupied. The *why* you can't place them isn't the point I'm going for.
You want to take an action that result in placing a character. If you can't make the placement then you can't take the action.

I think this answers the whole token question perfectly.
I know that I've seen a ruling on Resurrection Man and his token while he is on his countdown clicks. The ruling said that when Res man is to return to the map he goes in the nearest legal adjacent square to his token

Because placing him is not optional.
TEKTITE INFUSION: When a countdown click appears, stop clicking the dial, place a Body marker in Resurrection Man's square, and place him on his card. If Resurrection Man is on his card when all other friendly characters are not on the map, he is KO'd. When he is on his card at the beginning of the turn, turn his dial once clockwise. When a non-countdown click is revealed, remove the Body token and place Resurrection Man in that square or the nearest unoccupied square. When Resurrection Man is placed on the map at the beginning of this game or through this trait, has standard combat symbols, and rolls his d20 four times. For each combat symbol rolled, Resurrection Man may choose a symbol of that type and he has that combat symbol. For each power color rolled, including a special power, he may choose a combat type for each and use the power of that type, but may only choose each combat type once. Chosen powers and abilities can be used until he reaches a countdown click.
If a non-countdown click pops up, you HAVE to place him back on the map. No choice.
There is totally a choice here with Green Lantern. You choose whether or not you wish to use One Last Earthly Mission.
