Just to clarify the previous post that referred to "it's speed powers" was an example not a rule. The rule doesn't just apply to when a power says "it's speed powers".
The rules that are important are:
When a game effect refers to a “standard {combat type} power” it is referring to a standard power as described in that section of the Power and Abilities Card.
and
When a game effect refers to a “{combat type} power” it is referring to the specific power in the specific combat type’s slot of a characters dial.
I wasnt referring to what you said, I was correcting the other guy who thought because of the wording that ruling you posted didnt apply.
I had this situation come up in a game last night. My opponent was using EW 049 Green Arrow.
I had ADW 055 Man-Thing
Green Arrow hit Man-Thing for 6 (3 w/RCE and 1 perplex). Man-Thing took the damage up to his stop click. My opponent tells me that a hit target can't use defense powers. My response was that the STOP appears in the damage slot of Man-Thing's dial. I acknowledged that I wouldn't be able to use his Impervious though.
I just wanted to know if that was the right call about the STOP click. Thanks.

You were correct. "Defense powers" are only powers that specifically appear in the defense slot on the dial. Standard defense powers that the character can use through other means, e.g. through a trait, is not affected by Kryptonite Arrows.
[C]When a game effect refers to a “{combat type} power” it is referring to the specific power in the specific combat type’s slot of a characters dial. For example, an effect that allowed a character to use its “Speed Powers” as free actions would only be able to use the standard and special powers showing in the speed slot of its dial as free actions. If the character could use a standard speed power (such as Running Shot) from another source (such as a trait or equipment), it could not use that standard speed power as a free action as it is not showing in the Speed slot of the characters dial.
Here's another question about good ol one armed Ollie.
For his trait: When Green Arrow occupies clear terrain, he can use Sidestep and opposing characters can't draw lines of fire to him unless they are within three squares of him or he has 2 action tokens.
Does this mean he must be in clear terrain for the effect where he cant be targeted except withing 3 squares?
Im almost 100% on this one but figured Id double check. Its part of the same sentence so I cant see how it isnt part of the same restriction.

If he isn't in clear terrain, nothing in that trait works.
So, let me get this straight... if lets say Jakeem picks invincible as one of the pick a powers.. and i hit him with one arm ollie... he would still have, and be able to use invincible? Just curious, if thats true why does it have power as plural? -"hit characters cant use defense powers until your next turn"
If you read the e&c quote, it's pretty clear why it works that way. When a power mentions {combat type} powers, it's referring to those that show in the slot on the dial.
Is Jakeem's chosen invincible on the dial in the defense slot? Nope. And that's why Green Arrow's special does not turn it off.

Mighty Man has Invincible (pink square) currently visible on his dial. GA hits him and now Mighty Man can't use his defense powers. Invincible does nothing.
Mighty Man then clicks his damage from GA's attack and now ES/D (green square) is visible on his dial. GA's friend Hawkeye follows up with a ranged attack on Mighty Man who can't use his ES/D because he can't use defense powers.
GA wipes the defense slot out completely. If it appears in the defense slot, it doesn't work. Period. If the power/ability doesn't appear in the defense slot, there is no effect and the power/ability works normally.
