My game club held a discussion night about the new Galactus rules and were wondering about the Galactus Scenario and open heroclix. We wanted to field a CrossGen, Mystic, Wildcard team.
#1 Galactus Scenario
If Galactus takes a swing at a CrossGen or Mystics character, does he take a click of damage as per the Indy rules?
#1a Since Galactus attacks "only when it takes damage", and he should take damage from a CrossGen or Mystics TA, does he then re-attack?
#1b If Galactus KOs a CrossGen or Mystics character, he takes damage from the CrossGen or Mystics TA and then per the Galactus rules, "This attack MUST target the character that damaged Galactus in the previous action." Since the character is KOed, does Galactus go for the "Overkill" and get caught in a "feedback loop" causing his own demise? or does he not return the attack?
Galactus (in the scenario rules) retaliates to attacks, not just any damage. The Mystics/CrossGen TA is not an attack, therefore Galactus will not retaliate to it.
"Combat
Galactus attacks only when it takes damage. After the resolution of an action from which Galactus takes damage, Galactus takes an action. This action must target the character that damaged Galactus in the previous action. The action can be a close combat, ranged combat, or power action."
Nowhere in this does it state that he retaliates to attacks. Instead, he specifically retaliates "when it takes damage."
Mystics and CrossGen TAs deal damage and in this humble judges opinion, he must retaliate against the Mystic or CrossGen and take more lumps...
If there is a FAQ or something out there I don't know about which has clarified this, please let me know. I also have not seen a ruling by HeroComplex or Good Ole DrGandalf on this.
In fact, the Wizkids forums have been extremely silent on this topic.
