From time to time I read people discussing or insinuating that they destroy their opponents object (like exospex or symbiote) on the first turn. Having never seen this play out, I was curious what the most common way to accomplish this is.
Since so many people seem to do it, I am assuming it has to be an ID call in, but if that is the case, how do you avoid the character being KO'd immediately upon being more than 5 squares away?
If I place my obects in row 7, and you call in a character, the closest they can be is row 21. Who swings 14 that can be called in AND doesn't need to be more than 5 squares from the call in character?
I don't see how that would be a regular occurrence. There are a handful of pieces that can essentially fire across the map on their first turn (there's a recent forum post about it), but other than that, I'd think it would require at least two turns.
If you've got initiative, it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to put together a team that could theoretically attack the object on your second turn. Even if your opponent is standing on the object, if they're not holding it, it can still be a target. So you move out on turn one. They move onto the object on their first turn. You move and attack the object, destroying it on your second turn. Object destroyed.

Yeah I can def see how it could happen on turn two. When I have seen it discussed, it was vague about what turn it was. I guess I assumed that turn two would too late, as I presume that getting the object equipped on turn one is the plan for most competitive teams. But that may have been an incorrect assumption on my part.
The only thing I could come up with was using Figure A to TK Figure B forward 6. Then using Figure B to call in someone like Cyclops. Then having Cyclops running shot destroy an object. It would take 3 power actions and 3 points, so it would need to be done to destroy something really vital like exospex.
Anyone seen any other ways of executing the first turn object destroy? Or is it really only done on turn two in competitive matches?
Call in 3 pt Cyclops or Jean, Triple Perplex Range, RS KO the object. SideStep him off the board.
That makes sense. And I love the idea of sidestepping him out of the 5 square radius to avoid your opponent having any chance of scoring him. I have never seen that done in a match.

Thanks for the wisdom
You're very welcome! And it can completely change games.
I won the finals of the ROC KY States Saturday this way.
I played -
AL JHOR Dan
2x Sheriff Strange
2x JW GL
Iron Avengers Map Bonus
IDs, Terrian and Such.
Versus 275 Uni with the 4 Pt Symbiote
As Long as I won map I secured a victory 4-3 since Uni Can't bust the barrier and attack as I completely encase my team everyturn. You pack a wide open map with this strategy in mind. We rolled off for map and I won the map roll securing victory.

I've TK'ed a big boi up front, he ran up to grab my opponent's favorite item, equipped it next turn, and survived to win the game for me. I'll count that as "destroying" it because they don't have access to it. If anything, they paid so that I could be more awesome.
Just because I find it hilarious: in question was a Bloodaxe brought in by Maestro. My big boi was Dark Knight Returns Superman. Battle Fury meant no awesome range, but instead I got what felt like an epic wrestling match between the two.
Another one is if you happen to already have a TK'er on your team who can do the full 6 square TK, Grab the Ape Green Lantern. You have just enough range to destroy any non-indestructible piece.
Or use Ape Batman for that little bit of extra movement with sidestep to snag lights or heavies from them.
If I was the player with just Uni-mind, I would’ve taken pushing damage until I died and took a shot with my sideline eternals
Is my math right that it would take 23 turns to do that? And even at that point there are stiil 4 other ID cards to snipe the remaining Eternals with the Range advantage.
