PLEASE PLEASE TOPPS.....Don't let Heroclix die. I've used this game as a teaching aid in Central America to bring kids together and it has been an integral part of culture sharing and countless hours of joyful fun. As a fan and an educator I ask that you by all means possible keep this game alive.
Damn, dude. I feel like Hammer of Thor must already be in production-- surely they'll still sell those boosters rather than just throw them away, right? All the prep work must be done, and it would seem like a big loss to not sell what's already made.
I was kind of wondering that myself. My guess is the stats are definately done, more then likely the sculpts and molds have been made, but it's possible the packaging and actual production run hasn't been started yet. Which might be why they're closing WizKids down now. Either that or the production run has begun and they don't have the money to actually finish it, box up the figures, and ship the packages here.

it also means no prize sharks that you just want to beat to make it more competitive for you, so some venues will lose players =/
That's the great thing about this web site, most people at my venue use it to get help with teams or try new ones. In turn the group is quite competitive, and no player wins most or all of the time.
Actually personal hobbies are one of the few things that stay steady during economic crises (tanning, gaming and such). People view these things as a treat from the world around them and they deserve to continue on. Now things like eating out, getting new furniture to your outdated apparel, upgrading your cable package, and frivolous spending on clothing and so forth sees a HUGE downturn.
It really depends on how bad it gets, a 1980's recession yeah, people will be still able to buy, not as much thou, as manufacturing , hence costs go up. If this one ends up more like the 1920's depression , then people will be more worried about bartering for food than any side entertainment. I doubt it will be as bad as the 1920's, but it will be worse that the tech bubble and the crash in the 80's

Upon notifying our partners, Topps will immediately pursue strategic alternatives so that viable brands and properties, including HeroClix, can continue without noticeable disruption.
What was the planned date for Hammer of Thor again?
I'll wait and see what news (if any) appear as that date draws nearer...
This is what happens when they don't make Killermoth, Bi-Beast, or Madcap. Maybe they should've made those figures, then they would've gotten the money they need to keep Wizkids going.
I read 7 pages of this and just can't go on anymore.
I must say that this is not a big surprise and my first reply was hahaha cool.....I constantly complained about them and I just really ended up buying it for the figures and not that game near the end.
They said all should continue un-noticed and that's fine with me....but I hope I do see a change by Hammer of Thor (I strongly assume everything will go fine and continue the only problem being maybe a later release date for everything).
I liked when it was a kids game and simple and fun. It lost alot of it's fun in the past while and most of the fans kept trudging, I hope they completely redo it and make it fun and simple again.
Ace of the Secret Society of Supervillains Clan!
Yellowjacket (Human) - 100 points of P-Y-M-P - Sweet Papa Doom/BPW
Sure every one is panicking, and this could be a strategy as well. But I think that unless they make some aussurances about HOT and prize support the game WILL die.
The formula is very simple
Hercolix makes money
Wizkids loses money
Remove Heroclix from wizkids, and it will continue to make money w/o WK hampering the game that has kept the company going.
Over the year WK has made many games, and many have failed horribly
Others that could have gone further were abandoned.
I truly blame Mark Tuttle for all of this. But Topps will not let Heroclix die. They, i am sure, have the numbers and see that everything HC they make sells.
They will keep making the game, it will only have Topps on the packaging instead.
Of all the games in their line Heroclix would appear most likely to be picked up by someone else, unless Topps tries to sell the games enmass to avoid contractural obligations being broken.
I'll keep playing.
I'll keep modding.
Regardless.
It's not the first game I kept playing after being pronounced dead.
Sad but not necessarily the end, certainly not personally.
There have been a few successful, if just temporary, rebirths.
Shadowrun (the rpg not the clix)
and
Battletech
come to mind.
It is also possible for HCrealms to continue.
Can we set up a "new hero dial stamp of approval"?
Getting hands on old clix (even MK) for the bases could ensure a long underground life.
If Heroclix isn't picked up, let's see what we can't create for ourselves in the absence of a big brother whose ownership and "official" oversight was more interested in profit than fun.
It was inevitable, let's move on and keep having fun.
