You do realize people no want to know why I'm laughing so hard, right? If I could rep you twice for that I would.
I take that as a compliment. Thanks!

oh here's an idea. how about a proboard for Thawmus' D&D? people in thread will know about it and it's a seperate place we can discuss schedules, characters, whatever? would that work? the occassional mention of the game here to remind other mafians you are running it but D&D details and greater discussion over there? just a thought.
Alright, I'm getting this growing sense that I'm the only one who understands where I'm coming from, here. Which is generally not a comfortable position. It feels to me like some people aren't picking up on the fact that we can't have 10 people in a session, and at the same time, we can't have 3. I'm not going to cherry pick players and tell them, "Hey, you can't play.", and at the same time, I don't want people to volunteer quitting, because that snowballs really damn fast. So I'm attempting to come up with a solution that will not lose anyone, not gain anyone, and sufficiently split the difference between two DMs, so that we can all be happy.
Now, I might not be treating this very realistically. Check that: I know I'm not. That pessimistic side of my brain is going absolutely ape#### over my decision making thus far.
Here's why I won't throw up a thread until we have something concrete going:
Few years ago: Had a D&D thread in AR. People were interested. We had a whole bunch of signups, couldn't get more than 3 people to show up for a session. We had several arguments between players about certain in-game decisions, characters were killed in the second session due to a party brawl over treasure. After that, participation continued to drop off, so I ended it.
About a year later: Stepper ran a game. We had a thread in Arcade, we had few signups, because about 3 people go to that forum, but when we tried recruiting in AR, we got our threads shut down. Out of the 5 players that signed up, we couldn't ever get more than 3 at one time. Eventually, Stepper fell off the face of the earth, with his new teaching job and such. There was nothing wrong with the DM, the campaign, nor the players, nor the playing environment, nor the software. We just didn't have enough people, and our DM succumbed to RL stuff.
A couple months ago: I went back to the same thread, to see if those guys were willing to start this up again. We've been flirting with it constantly. I got few responses. I tried getting them to check out google wave with me. Still few responses, and it didn't really look like anyone wanted to actually try anything. I had about two people try stuff, and several people continually told me they wouldn't have time to play anyways.
Last week: I rather casually propose in this thread that if someone wants to play some 4th edition online, we could give it a try, and I get 10 interested people. A week later, today, I'm looking at posts from 3 more, that would have definitely NOT known or said anything, had we not continued to talk about it here.
If I had made a thread in AR, I would have had a whole bunch more interested people that I don't know at all, the people here that I do know would have stopped paying attention altogether, and I'd have run into the problems of the past.
Watch, by the end of this week, the D&D talk will have diminished considerably, because I'm busy coming up with a campaign. By the end of next week, someone's going to ask what's going on with D&D, because nobody's said anything all week. And the week after that, I'll hopefully know more about what's going to happen to my weekly schedule come September, and can get something rolling. And then, when that's finally happened, a D&D thread will exist, right smack dab in AR, with links to the various tools people need to download, when the sessions will be run, etc. And then the people that are in my game, and are playing, are going to suddenly care. They'll finally have a reason to check a thread that's not directly in the Mafia forum. Because there's not one person that can sit here and tell me this would be getting the attention it deserved if I had done so in the first place. Not one.
Mal might figure something out with his work, sooner than that. And he seems to already have a campaign in mind. For all you guys know, a thread's going to exist sooner than that.
13 is unmanageable. 7 and 6, with a couple from each group unavailable each week, is very manageable. It's damn near perfect.

And for those of you who think I'm going off: I'm not. I'm pleading for some patience.
No worries, Thawm. I see where you're going with this so I am cool with waiting until we can get the project off the ground. I still have to chat with you later this evening about generating my Warlord character. Looking forward to it!

Looks like fingers from a comforting hand. My guess is that the image was cropped, removing the bunny's buddy in the process.
