The original meaning of the phrase is no longer there.
Hence my saying the phrase has become corrupted, a concept you just proved.

If you have created something, you better be prepared to take critique on your creation. ESPECIALLY if I'm paying an extortionate £9 for it.
I think that Ben can handle the criticism, however you do not provide a critique. You only stated "its an awful dial" and then seemed to insult the post that he wrote that demonstrated the choices he made. Perhaps my sensitivity metre is too high, I am misreading it and the sarcasm I read wasn't really there. If so, then I apologize to Amora.

Well, that explains your position.
Actually, if you read my comments in your own thread hair10, you will find that I agree with some of the concerns. My like of the character doesn't blind me to the issues people are concerned about, which is what i think you are implying, however i note you don't come out and say it.
Content versus presentation. I think you can criticize something without being nasty, which I thought that first post was.

Kudos for the dial and sculpt design of WoS Nightcrawler. I hate having features on the dial that de-power or nerf figures so I was glad he doesn't have a feature that hurts him when he carries. I hope I pull a Nightcrawler in sealed this weekend.
Ask Ben about how much flak I gave him over the fig, in person, at GenCon.
It was rude in a really lame passive-aggressive way then, too.

Nice fallacy there. You don't even have to look beyond this thread to find examples of Nightcrawler fans who don't like the figure and non-fans who do. If this were a non-Marvel character, would you be pulling the fanboy defense?

And Ben's refusal to answer the question about whether he thinks the fig is appropriately costed is answer enough.
Case closed, eh prosecutor?
I'd agree with the earlier poster who said that Ben has really nothing to gain by answering either way. The haters on both sides will keep on feeling the way they already do. Beyond that, your claim of wanting to hear his experienced opinion really rings false to me. What kind of discussion do you really think would follow from his response?
It just seems like a transparent attempt to bait Ben. Regardless of how he would answer (or decline to answer), it plays to the agenda.
Thanks for the write up Ben. I really like how you captured the character and really think (even if you didn't have anything to do with it) that the cost is about right. Without alot of back up he's just an annoying/tie up type piece.
Good job.

Nah its fine. If you read the story its not like he stayed there and went toe to to toe witht hem. His goal was to escape and thats what he did he out manuvered them and got away. Back then the xmen were treated more like regular humans but with a special power. not like super humans with a special power. I love the part where he samcked wolverine. People dont give spidey enough credit, hes much faster than a normal human and can lift 10+ tons. He should be able to hit wolvie and send him flying.
Ever read spiderman vs. wolverine, to date its one of my favorite comics and has one of the best throw downs between 2 good guys eve, but with a solid story to boot. I wish they would do a straight to dvd of that one.
Yeah, but that still leaves out Xavier, who could've put Peter to sleep before Peter had time to even think about moving. Nightcrawler is as fast/agile as Peter if not more so, yet the writer decided to punk Kurt out in favor of Peter. Wolverine can take a hell of a lot more than Peter gave him and can move faster than they portrayed, yet the writer decided to punk him out in favor of Peter. To add insult to injury, Peter adds in some Superdickery-esque dialogue during the whole encounter. Also, your statement about the X-Men being treated differently back then is accurate and actually strengthens my point. The X-Men were slighted in terms of what they were actually capable of and Spidey was written as being overpowered in that instance. I'm sorry, but it's terrible along the lines of Rulk punching an elder of the universe to death.
Wolvie v. Spidey is pretty good though. I'd honestly like to see the two go at it more often than they do, as it's almost always a fun and competitive fight, but it looks like Marvel is leaning towards the "World's Finest" treatment with them.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
It's hard to argue that this figure isn't min-maxxed for game play, and it isn't really credible that "this is the dial that represents everything Nightcrawler can do"...since the dial is missing the several clicks of Leadership it should have.
Back on topic... Ben must have Super Senses & Shape Change as he completely dodged the questions about whether he thinks the fig is costed appropriately. :
Cracked me up
But the NC issue isn't Ben's fault, it's whoever let those numbers with those powers slide through at 86 pts fault.
I wonder what the point formula would be for a pog Silver Age Superman (because Silver Age Superman would never leave his first click anyway, let's save on the plastic) with move= equal to the fastest Flash (and the Flash should be the fastest fig), attack= equal to the highest defense, defense= 32 (highest attack= 16 + triple perplex + 12 roll= nope can't scratch Silver Age Superman), and damage= immediate KO.

I'd totally be down for some front-loaded Leadership on that dial! Especially if it means moving the Shape change closer to the end-dial.
Clearly, at the time of the Secret Wars, NC was not yet a Vet.... Thus he wasn't as good as Spidy was.
But evidently he got better through practice*.
*: Remember, the X-teams fight something like 512+ days/year if you try & add up thier adventures cronologically {must be a mutant power}- so other than right now while he's playing dead, Kurts only "down time" has been when the Mauraders put him in a coma. That's ALOT of practice. And I KNOW I've seen Spidy goofing off in a few issues.
NC shouldn't be able to catch Spider-man if he were asleep.

Agreed. I'm guessing the Transporter version was dumped pretty quickly because of higher point cost.

actually, when written well, Ol Petey kicks the living crap out of Wolvie...
