After hopping a few air balloons and flying saucers, he came to the fallen fellow. A few seconds later, he flashed, changed colors, and teleported away.

teleportation seems like a futuristic soldier power.
in the write-up those 2 soldiers ate ham.
it appeared as though someone died. as though someone had an extra life gained through having a 2nd person.
