Because I didn't want to come right out and full claim right away at the first drop of pressure? We actually had some folks a bit disgruntled about that in the last game. Also it's good to have some cards in your hand - otherwise we might as well all just mass claim Day 1.
Why give the power you didn't use instead of the one you did? Especially since the hider claim would be a good way to have someone waste a kill attempt on you. If not for the fact that Pac-Man is in the write-up and is a reasonable character to appear, I would think this was a fake claim.

I only gave a power at all because I didn't know if a character claim alone would be satisfactory and I didn't want to get voted out while I was asleep. Maybe I didn't need to claim a power at all, but random pressure tends to out powers. Girathon got vig killed for refusing to power claim in the last game, I didn't want to follow that precedent.

That still doesn't answer my question, though. You have two powers. Why go for the one you couldn't use instead of the one you did use?
Anyway, here's hoping for some additional information from others.
Worst-case scenario we'll get more info to work with.
In fact, to follow up, I'm in the writeup distinct from the characters making kills (the armored man at the end and the sword/plague at the beginning).
Honestly, this feels like a mafia attempt to push for a miselimination and have plausible deniability for it since K-Ness started the vote. It doesn't seem like something you would do as town.
Leon makes sense for the cop, and he's probably the most recognizable character from RE, though I might put Jill above him.
Yeah, but I don't think "manic" for either of them.

Yeah, my personal paranoia said "cult" here, but that's probably just me.
