Hercules? Although I think Black Panther was an official member before him...
You're good. But I'm magic!

The problem is that a lot of new players come from the "race generation" they want to define their worth by the "skill" they posses in playing a game of toy soldiers.
I'd still say it was Simon Williams.
He joined up for that very short story and had the red eyes before he joined and died with them.
What was the name of that guy who used to post on these trivia threads, argued over the answers all the time, and eventually left in a huff? I honestly can't recall.
Anyway, he once made a very heated argument that Wonder Man did not actually join the Avengers in #9, in response to a trivia question I posted (about who was the only past or present Avenger who did not appear in Avengers #100).

And I said he had joined. They made Simon a member in #9, then they gave him a funeral and the like when he "died". I remember that.
And how ever could you forget Lusiphur? He's still around, somewhere.
And now with a heavy heart, i'm going to announce my retirement from hcrealms marvel trivia. I'm going out batting 1.000. Like my ma always said, if you can only beat them once, quit right after you do it.

Go back and check a copy of Avengers #9 (I just did)...Simon's eyes didn't change to all red and glowy right away, they still looked totally normal except for a single panel during the middle of the ion treatment (see the panel where Executioner tests Simon's invulnerability with a revolver). They were not revealed as transformed until after his resurrection, circa 1979.

I don't have a copy of #9 handy.
However, going by what you just wrote here;
Simon was allowed into the Avengers after he got those Ion treatments. When the Executioner tests Simon, it was just after he got those treatments. Therefore, Simon's eyes not looking normal then indicate his eyes were different when he was allowed into the Avengers.
