I guess my question is - does it cost Wizkids a lot of money to "rent" the hall for long than 6 PM or whatever time it is they had to be done running events? I mean I never try and compare Monpoc to clix because I think it's just a different game - but Monpoc did have the 24 hour Iron Arena.
I am not saying that I think Wizkids should have 24 hours events (even though that would rule!) - but how much extra would the cost be to run events until 9 or 10? Those couple extra hours could really save some stress on both player and judge. I don't know the cost associated with it - but it seems to me like it would be worth the stress saved, no?
Adding an exact duplicate of the Worlds event being run at the same time doesn't scream "diversity". Just sayin'.
I actually left GenCon Saturday night in part because of the event format for Sunday.
What? Munchoboy wonders, were there no good MonPoc events worth your while on Sunday? Munchoboy is just sayin'.

I don't know how running a longer hall would make for less stress, but I do agree that increased hours would be cool!

I'm just saying, "the management" (as it were) needs to set bigger goals and to take advantage of more of the marketing opportunities afforded by GenCon. That's a management decision, though, not a fault on the guys and gals who were working like crazy at the booth. The decision-makers need to step it up and get more tables, design shorter demos for more turnover, and arrange more promotions, all leading to more new players.
These are very valid points. Granted, I did not attend Gen Con. All the same, there are some sensible suggestions in the prior post which not be difficult to implement for next year. Hopefully by that time things will work out and we'll see a return of WK/Heroclix at more cons and the release of more con exclusives (and swag for the gaming hall.)

It would just make more time for the events to be run, not having people rushing around as much.
Honestly, the #1 thing to make less stress on everyone would be to have more envoys, and to give them a day off.
This would decrease their stress, which in turn would make it more enjoyable for the players as well. Not that it wasn't a great time, and the envoys did great - but I could tell that they were stressed/tired.
I'd also like to have professional massage therapists, preferrably of foreign origin, readily available to give us massages while we play. I'm sure you have that kind of pull, so make it happen.

Agreed. I would like to see a system wherein WK had 16-20 volunteers for the weekend divided between the two areas, with each receiving a day off for the show (or perhaps two half days).
That said, I think there are a few of us that would actually prefer to work the entire weekend and just take longer breaks.

Yeah, everyone was feeling it, I'm sure, by Day Four, particularly in the Tourney Hall. But there were many factors that contributed and I think being in the middle of a shared hall was a big factor.
I hope that next year WK has bigger/better locations for both their Tourneys and the WK Show Booth.
All that said, I am so supremely proud of the job everyone did, especially considering that there were only 15 volunteers for the whole weekend!

I'll see what I can do.

Most of my game time at GenCon had already been spent playing MonPoc. I was ready for a break and to do something else. The 'Biggest Losers' of Worlds wasn't it. I was excited when it was scheduled to be a Watchmen event (which is why I pre-reg'ed for it). When the format got changed to exactly what I didn't want to play in to begin with (if I wanted to play in a Worlds style format I would have signed up for them)... Bleh! Just sayin'.
There are 542,000 children in foster care. Talk to your local foster and adoptive agency. You could change a life.

Which reminds me... I had LOTS of people ask me if I was signed up to play in the Worlds events. EVERY one of them was surprised when I answered something to the effect of "are you crazy?". Why was everyone shocked I wasn't playing in Worlds?

My wife is half-Thai and a massage therapist. Sarah (the blond demoer) is also a massage therapist IRL and from Canada. Maybe we can get them to set up a booth next year!

LOL
I'd be willing to bet that most of the gaming crowd has never had a "legitimate" professional massage!
I'd also be willing to bet that most massage therapists don't have to deal with the level of hygiene they'd face at a convention!
Great idea though, even if just for the comedic value!

There are 2 massage places in the mall if you ventured that far. Larthosgrr8 got one on Saturday after the event and before dinner.

Actually they had a booth setup in the convenction center for massages! Hahahaha. I never got around to it, but it looked so hilarious seeing 250+ lbs. sweaty nerds getting worked over by this short brown haired chick. Looked to me like she was having the time of her life......
I'll say this about the "Show the Winners Up Event" - I saw some teams that were hilarious. Some guy had a mole-man/all moloid team. That was awesome. And there was a solider team with all phalanx soliders and paradaemon figures. So while it was supposed to be competitive - it didn't look the part.

I am beating a dead horse here, but we need some Tournament Reports. I would love to hear about that tournament. It might make Hair10 feel a little better.
It's okay man. It's not your fault. No, really it's not your fault man.

I've got nothing for you man. I only saw the teams sitting out for that. I stayed for the first round of Worlds, then left to drive home. mike_houghton played in the show the winners up. He might know more.
I did play... I lost in the final round for an army that consisted of two night shades, light speed, two spidermans and and iron fist.
I got smoked hardcore. I was not prepared for that much damage output.
There was also a duel Thing, Lightspeed, Spiderman army.
A 5 or 6 M11 army
2 more Strange Armies
A Bats Cats gotham army
The Moloid Army
I dont think there were any cap talia armies, there may have been one shazam army.
Sorry I dont have a more thorough Battle Report. I was worrying about filming worlds, and my opponents for most of the match.
I know near the end that the moloid army did beat my friends strange army.
They gave out three manhattans to the undefeated which included the guy who beat me
4 x WKO Champ Two Top 8 finishes at Nationals One Top 8 finish at Worlds 2018 WV ROC CHAMP
I was in the Show Em Up event. Here are the different teams I saw:
The three undefeated teams:
- 5 M-11s with a Yellow Lantern
- A team fronted with 2 SI Spider-Man, 2 Nightshade with Iron Fist and Lightspeed
- Wildcard team with Moonstone w/Thunderbolts, SI Spider-Man, Dawnstar, AA Robin and Doombot 5953.
Other teams I saw:
- 16 Moloids with Mole Man (I believe it went 1-2)
- Bat/Cat, Holiday and 3x The Question
- Avengers team with Cap, Skrull Spider-Woman, Hawkeye w/Thunderbolts, Scarlet Witch and SI Spider-Man
- Celebrity theme with 2x Moonstone w/Thunderbolts and 2x Edward Nigma and Yellow Lantern
- The Thing, Talia, Marvel Girl, The Question, Scarlet Witch
- There were a couple Dr. Strange teams that were packing different variations, but I believe both had Jason Blood
I was so focused on my games I didn't catch any of the other 8 I'm missing. Nothing else that was quite as eye catching as the 5 M-11s or 16 Moloids though.
