Well you aren't strictly paying $300 or however much you spend to go get a horsemen figure. You get so much more for your $300 then the person spending $100 on the figure. It's not an equal comparison. I understand what you are trying to say, but it's not an even thing.
Besides, that BIN price? It's cheaper than attending the con.
The math is in most buyers favor atm.
Consider;
.Price of Con - $65 (4 days, at the door)/$55 if early bird registration - Me, I wouldn't waste time driving over to Origins for just 1 day, how about you?
.Gas - in my case that'd be about $50 round trip.
.event tickets - ? (didn't look, & depends upon type of game played)
.Food - ?
.Lodging - ? (let's assume 3 nights, even cheap)
-------------------------------------
Total cost for a chance to win A horseman? Somewhere about $300+
And on top of that, if you really wanted a Horseman/Wonder Woman, you'd spend as much time playing the grinders & such as possible - so all you'd do is play clix, missing the rest of Origins.... I like clix, but No Thanks.
So, who's the fool? The person who pays only $100 or so? Or those who go, spend $300+, play clix to the exclusion of all else & don't win?
Yes, I'm ignoring that WK has said these pieces will be available later in the year.
Because who knows what form of flaming hoop that'll take.
Of course trading will also eventually get one the Horsemen/WW....
I agree with this, but let's look at the other side.
The person who goes, and wins the figure-or figures in Mike's case- right away and can roam the con later that day, or the next day.
If you are only planning on attending one day to try and get the figure, I would save my time and stay home, or use the money needed to play for the figure, and just buy one. A one day trip is a good reason for one to just buy the figure.
No rest until the great works of Anthony Edward Stark are in clix forms
Soon...his works will be realized... in 2013 the Hall of Armor in clix!
Edit: Yes, that's the box she comes in. Yes, it's the size of a Gravity Feed single. Yes, the card is exactly how you'd expect.
That's frickin' sweet. I really hope I can get my mitts on this and Ms. Marvel / Moonstone sooner rather then later. (They will be mine eventually, that I know...)
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Some only spend their money on this game. Video Games are $60 each, new. Buying 2 games is $120 - see didn't take long to get there.
Some, I bet, are from outside the US. How else are they going to get them?
As much as I want WW and Moonstone / Ms. Marvel - I'll wait for the prices to fall and make a trade for one. It will be a while but I'm patient.
same, i am from Canada and the cost of attending american cons is just too great but i would not spend $100 on a figure, just too much money for the average person (such as me) in my opinion

This all assumes that spending the weekend gaming with friends isn't worth the money alone itself. Add that in and you get a weekend of fun AND the prize for your bucks.
QFT. I was a little nervous as this was the first gaming con I have played at. I was concerned that people might be uber competitive/uptight about things. Luckily, pretty much everyone I played against was casual and friendly, like a normal friendly game at our venues. It was really nice to experience.
The other thing about Origins that pleasantly surprised me was the amount of space. There was plenty of room at the tables, and there was plenty of separation between areas. Now admittedly, this was Thursday and things are bound to get much busier, but for me it was great not to be crammed together.

Am I in Bizzaro world where Realms members are congratulating somone making a mint by instantly reselling a figure? What happened to Neckbeardgate with the TRU Sentinels from just 3 weeks ago? I'm confused, is making money from your hobby *gasp* acceptable now?
LOL
Congrats Mike! I hope you make a crap ton of money off of impaitent Heroclix players across the country!

I think it is more the fact that he put it on Ebay assuming it wouldn't sell. People just have cash burning in their pockets. That is why it is funny and I congratulate him on it.
