Cyke, I've gotta thank you too for keeping this thread alive and attracting me back here. And I'll take your advise and load up on Total Anarchy when I can. I'm going to try some time without Storm so for now I'll probably play Rouge and Gambit as my 4 drops and use Cerebro to make sure I get Cyclops as my 5 drop. If anyone else comes by, please mention what you use as your 4 or 5 drops for X-men as I'm quite curious to what you all used. Up until I switched to Brotherhood a few months ago (I'm switching back over the weekend) I'd been playing Storm/Proudstar as my 4 drop and Cyclops as my 5, every once in a while using 5 drop Wolverine for some fun.
mainly james howlett is my primary 5 drop, with either sunfire, or archangle taking a secondary position.
rogue and gambit are both equally great at 4, proudstar would be awesome if my current deck, ran more recovery and did not use TA,
in my current build turn 4 is my weakest turn. i want initiative on evens, so that makes my turn 5 wolverine a beast to take down. but if i am not playing a weenie deck, i drop rogue, and while she is decent, a 7/7 with flight, she is nothing to write home about. so turn 4 is my meta turn, with storm, gambit, and rogue, i have alot of options and can play each one accordingly.
i am not a fan of cyclops at any drop in my deck, which is wierd cuz he is my favorite x-men i don't run a single copy of him in my x-men deck.
slim at 2 is not that great, i rarely team attack at all, so his power would be useless, plus bishop and nightcrawler are so much better for standing alone.
at 5, scott summers, is a decent offensive play, but he is not that great as only a 8/8, and besides i can get the same unstunnable abilty in james howlett regardless of the initiative, so wolverine is a much smarter play.
sufire is excellent in a titans and TNB haevy enviroment him and rogue or gambit can really clean house. and archgel has so much so much synergy with storm, plus he has a great att. which can help if i do have odd initiative.
so right now my 4 drops are roguePAx2,gambitx2, and stormx2
5- james howlettx4 and archangel/sunfirex2- i am constantly swicthing these guys out, still trying to find the better match-up.
4 Nightcrawler, Kurt Wagner
2 Bishop
4 Wolverine, Logan
2 Havok
4 Rogue, Power Absorption
3 Rogue, Powerhouse
4 Wolverine, James Howlett
1 Archangel, Angel of Death
4 Colossus
3 Professor X, World’s Most Powerful Telepath
3 The Demon, Etrigan
4 Savage Beatdown
2 Shape Change
4 Total Anarchy
4 Combat Reflexes
4 Bamf!
2 Children of the Atom
4 Cerebro
2 Madripoor
this deck is just one or two card off of warmachines deck, and the deck that i run. interesting choice on shapechange, the dodges were dropped in my deck, simply cuz they just don't do enough to stop alot of the bigger pumps, but as you can see, aaron breider added alot more higher costed charachter like 2 extra rouges(6) 1 one extra professor x(7) and etrigan in order to have better chances to get higher pumps.
not quite sure about madripoor, i think he is going for them, becuase his front row guys gain a +1 defensive pump, so his heavy hitters like collossus and rogue can hold their own when attacking if a bamf is not handy.
i wish aaron the best, go x-men!
although warmachine desrves as much credit for the design, he was running hero's united and finished i think 40-something, not bad at all.
the titans match was one of the reason's that this deck was deisgned, by using total anarchy and gambit and rogue( to copy any annoying powers, like terra and roy) this version of x-men has a strong chance of making the titans match in their favor. so while aaron's deck may have been weaker against titans, since he did not run gambit, or even sunfire, it should have better matches against other decks.
another thing about breiders build that i did not like was the lack of any auxiliry KO cards, like finishing move, or ADITF. everyone has a personal favorite card, that seems to be just in every deck they make, mine is ADITF, the ability to ko any major threat without worrying about your board is key, and the loss of enduracne is minimal. hell, i would run negative zone if x-men had the draw power, i run it in my vomit deck, and its freakin' nasty.
but even with this loss, maybe some people will see that x-men do have potentail and this just might get them the respect, we all think they deserve.
the one problem i have with hero's united is the same thing i have with all team-up decks where you cannot search for your team-up, if you don't draw it, then you are in trouble.
sure when it hits, you get alot of great options, clobberin' times, signal flares, bamfs, and COTA's. it can be a very powerful beatdown deck. but until there is a way to search for a gerneic plot twist, i just don't like team-up's the rewards does not outwiegh the risks.

This is why MK teams up so well with anyone. Search for Midnight Sons by discarding Dagger. Then you don't even need the other team in play to set the teamup. I'm thinking Bamf could come in handy in my MK deck.

well aaron breider lost in the quater finals vs gabe walls and his titans. the match is featured on metagame here.
I know these guys are writing this up on the quick, but could he be a bit more specific with the drops. Telling me he recruited Wolverine on turn 6 doesn't really help a lot. Which one? Howlett? Logan?
My preferred four drops are Rogue; PA and Proudstar. Proudstar is a flat out monster, especially when following up Wolverine, Logan. The only reason I don't play Wolverine, James Howlett is because I dont' want to lose my three drop which usually survives that late with him, but he is a REAL monster since he combos with Colossus nicely.
