amazing, i have to disagree in part. With DBZ, i dont know much, so if there arent enough charcters then fine. But as far as sets go you can always exand through.
for example star wars - you can have anakin (child) under a neutral name, anakin (apprentice) under jedi and anakin (vader) udner dark side. thers enough characters within starwars to make at LEAST one good set, and if you push it you might be able to link them to the films....ish.
one set i do have a difficulty with seeing made is pokemon. the basis relies heavily on types, grass v water , fire v grass, etcetc. i was thinkin maybe with them you could have weak, and res (if applicable) and if they they are weak to it the character cannot be reinforced this/these types and have invulnerability when attacked by their resistance kind. dunno, just a thought.
I really don't get why people are trying to bring Pokemon and Yugioh into this game in their examples...both those franchises have their own games, and as far as I know people still play them competitively. I'm talking more Indy comics, Anime/Manga and Star Wars.

x-men or inuyasha which is more man like
the action packed stories about being different or...
the lightly exciting romantic comedy
I'd have to disagree here. Inuyasha has a pretty strong being different theme, since Inuyasha neither fits in with the human category or the demon one. Sure, there is some romance in it, but it in no way takes away from the action of the story.
Just an aside w/ no point really. You could probably eck out two sets of DBZ and probably a 3rd and 4th if you count dragonball, and if there were no game for it already, gundam (although gundam is a tough fit for the system).
the more i think about it dragon ball is the best fit you have
1) multiple story arcs (sets)
2) side plots, from chars splitting up (plot twists)
3) multiple forms of chars (versions)
4) a few uber chars (for your 8-10 spots)
5) lots of locations (just go play a few rounds of dbz budokai)
6) unaffiliated characters at least from anime filler, if it can be counted but they're scatterd throughout the manga too
Yeah, if you put in Dragon Ball, DBZ, and possibly DBGT you could get plenty of cards out of that. The problem is, you don't have that many team affiliations. You have the 'good guys,' and lots of 'bad guys' that usually aren't allies with each other. I mean, it would be kind of hard to come up with 4 fleshed out teams for one set.
Originally posted by malber TCG publishers have usually shied away from the overt occult, sex, and violence material. This was an issue for Wizards back in the day, and is a reason why much YGO card art is censored in the US. It would be interesting to see if UDE adopts Spawn IP how it would handle this issue.

There's this game called Hecatomb that Wizards is trying to push that might prove you wrong. Wether or not it will be successful is another matter.
Going further back, there was also a rather vile game called Kult, an overtly sexual one called XXXenophile, several dealing with Christian mythos...
how can you say "you dont under stand why i bring yugioh into there examples" you say dbz could do a VS set ...they have a card game.
but i do think that a all anime game could be good
have each set tackle one anime -or two depending on how many characters each have
i think that bio-armor guyver would probaly be the best suited anime for a first set of a game that is not "anime" specific
as for indy comics
i could see dc puting out some sets featuring teams like
the authority and a marvel knights like team for random other "dark" characters
but as for great comics like the goon, spawn, and other random groups it would be hard to do them at this point with their majority of solo hero's
as for star wars hmmm.... i could see dark horse maybe jumping in to the vs system but i doubt that lucas would like his properties to have to contend with all the other groups in VS.... what if they make a star wars teams(dark side and light side) and they dont come out on top? like superman being a suck bung-hole set? i dont think that lucas would like to risk Vader being second to magneto or dr.light or garth....
but a new well thought out game for star wars would be nice
seeing as how the old star wars ccg was both hard to play and no fun to play
much like the lord of the rings ccg
i think that going out side of main line comics(properties not origanally a comic but a movie or video game) would hurt VS
but i think that VS has also changed what we expect from a new ccg not since magic has a very well thought out system been made untill VS that is
so hopefully any thing to get put on the market now will at least try to live up to that standard

DBZ has had TCGs in the past (I think they just came out with a new one a couple weeks ago or something) but none of them have reached the top tier in gaming. Yugioh, MTG, and VS are probably the 3 most played TCGs right now, so YGO and MTG wouldn't fit into VS because they're doing fine on their own. When I made my original post, I was talking about DEAD TCGs, not ones that are alive and kicking.

It's more along the lines of Lucas is greedy and won't let anyone else use his intelectual property.

Google up Animayhem. The big problem with trying to make a game like this now is that the rising popularity of anime series will make it far more difficult to get the licenses for all the different series.

Right? I am still not sure how the hell someone managed to get transforming Star Wars toys approved! They look, IMHO at least, to be the single most idiotic idea for a Star Wars toy I've ever seen.
An X-Wing that transforms into a half-robotic Luke Skywalker? A TIE Fighter that transforms into a now 99.99% robotic Darth Vader? Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm. No thanks.
If you doubt me, go look in the newest issue of Previews or on the Diamond Comics website.
I actually think Lucas hands out liscencing too often. I see so many garbage quality, garbage designed, garbage looks Star Wars merchandise it boggles the mind.
That being said, I do not see another Star Wars CCG anytime soon. The Decipher one was a "force" in the industry that was pulled for no reason, it seems. Or at least, it seems that they pulled the rights of a perfectly fine overall game (with some problems, but what game doesn't have those), for no reason other than to give the rights to WotC and keep a larger number of liscences under the control of a single company. With WotC's Star Wars game now officially dead and no longer being produced, I can't see Lucas approving another Star Wars CCG for a long time.
The should add Square-enix.It will make an outbreak to see Final Fantasy and other games into the VS system. They can get:
1:Lots of players and fans(make huge profits)
2:New strategies(Summoners,Black mages,Rush warrior)
3:New game text(Limit break,Trance,Alertness)
4:Many sets from just 1 company
Me and my friends made this up just for fun and it turn out pretty cool.We made our own FF set and post it on a site.People would comment and give new ideas.I hope upperdeck would see this.(by the way the set contain 160 cards, included characters and plot twist)I'll ask my friend for the link to the site.Who knows maybe they might considerer
dude i want starcraft characters for this game
but they'd be all armies lol
YES, they should make Blizzard another expandsion, so its Marvel Dc and Blizzard xD... they WOW TCG should be a VS system expansion =(!! Oh well... it probably wont happen, because hunt rush decks would just own all.
