Bazoo the Soul Eater, Skull Lair, even Chaos monsters...Creature Swap, Enemy Controller, Share the Pain, Monster Gate...DD Scout Planes are almost like a different sort of Scapegoat token. XD
Hey wait, are there any good Lv3 Fiends besides Gren Maju da Eiza? Because DD Scout PLanes are also great Puppet Magic bait...
Posessed Dark Soul comes to mind, a great way to pull all the low ballers your opponent is trying to run, plus any extras are gone!
A quick RONIN search brings up a few others I would find notable:
Dark Mimic LV 3 - a nice little draw when destroyed
Skull Knight #2 - when run in flocks of threes, provides a "free" tribute summoning.
Night Assailant - 'nuff said 8^D
Darkbishop Archfiend - more prevalent in the Archfiend deck, gives LOTS of protection to archfiends on the field
Hmmm…Level 3, Dillie-O covered that. but Level 6, there’s Archfiend of Gilfer. And a Snatch Steal let’s you tribute your opponent’s monster, plus Scouts to revive just about any level.
But remember, you need a Fiend on the field to activate “Soul Demolition” so summoning your level 3 Fiends to the field is necessary to keep that Graveyard destruction going.
Keep that Fiber Jar handy too.
Speaking of Puppet Magic, Creature Swap and give them Scout Plane and take their monster and either use it (Airknight and such) or remove it for a Fiend in the Graveyard.
They’ll also serve for Swarming strategies.
Like Staunch Defender.
When your opponent sees you only control Ultimate Obedient Fiend (who can’t attack) and 3 D.D. Scout Planes, they won’t resist attacking your Scouts. Staunch Defender and have them slam against UOF.
And they also provide bait for Covering Fire. If they’re attacked, you can boost them up by another ATK on the field (UOF anyone?) and if they attack your other monsters, your monster’s ATK by 800.
Waldo10032 – The Fiendish Duelist says "What does not belong? A drum, an egg, or a Fiend Deck?
Well, you can beat a drum. You can beat an egg, but you can't beat a Fiend Deck."
Quick question...why would you want to summon Night Assailant face-up? XD Skull Knight would probably be the best bet, methinks.
I stopped by Netrep, found some other nice ones:
Versago the Destroyer (hey, Black Skull Dragon fusion...)
Aswan Apparition
Sangan (traditional format)
Dokuroyaiba q:P
Soul Demolition is beginning to look awfully tasty...
personally I would go for 3 Puppet Magic, 3 Night Assailants, 3 Dark Possessed Soul, and 1-2 Demotion. Those, along with Creature Swap will give you plenty of opportunities to revive Gren Maju from the Graveyard and boost him at the same time.
One way is if you set and flip NA. Cant use it anymore, so Puppet Magic and get out Gren on an open field.
Swap a monster for theirs when they have those Airknights and VLords out and your can use Demotion to remove their monster and have Gren.
Obviously, these situations require more focus on getting things in the RFP pile so that whenyou summon Gren, that it doesnt hit the field as a wimp.
Unfortunately, Versago can’t be used to substitute any monsters in the Fiend Skull Fusion. Black Skull Dragon, however, is a different case.
Puppet Magic to remove Scout and summon Versago
Fuse it with Summoned Skull in your hand to summon B. Skull Dragon
Tribute a second Scout Plane for Dark Ruler or Lesser Fiend.
Argh!!!!

Yay! Another review! *Cracks fingers and begins to type VERY fast* ^_^
VERSAGO THE DESTROYER
As we all know, this monster is of the Fiend class. As one of the few fusion substitutes, this is one of the best (stat-wise). Versago helps out the fiend players with B. Skull Dragon, but that is almost it. He was MUCH better in the LOB days, but we have moved on with King of the Swamps. Anyway, he is searchable my Mystic Tomato, and also can be used for food for Dark Necrofear, That is about it, though, since he isn’t as useful as in the past. Enjoy ^_^

Yeah, that's what I meant. XD I should probably edit my little post, heh.
Man, if only Fiend Skull could be fusion sub'd...that would make for the beginnings of an awesome dragon/fiend deck...muahahaha!!
I haven't posted in this thread in a while. I am thinking about throwing together a fiend deck again, but I had already traded my Dark Ruler Ha Des and 3 Slate Warriors -_-. Well imo, Slate Warriors aren't that great, Id much rather use a Giant Orc. (Labyrinth of Nightmare)
Well anyway, I was just curious to see if Dark Ruler Ha Des plays an important role in fiend decks since the ban list. (Now that it has developed into Warrior Chaos) Is it really that effective? I mean since we lost Witch and Sangan. It only manages to be effective against Fiber Jar, Magician of Faith, and the occasional searchers.
Or against DDWL and DD Assailants, which can be found making out in all the indisreet decks.
Slates are a give and take, but Ha Des can be brilliant in any fiend deck that uses a straighforward Beatdown approach. the sharing aspect of his effect comes in really handy for sending out the other Fiends to attack, while he sits back smirking and drinking his wine (blood, kool aid, Anti-freeze?)
The attack for a single trib monster makes it desirable to get out.
Fiends have a variety of multiple effects that can be used in different ways. By this, I mean that it matters very little if you cannot revive Dark Ruler. Use Necrofear or other cards to remove him from play. Then you can use RFP cards like RfDD, Gren Maju, DF, etc to abuse his presence, whether directly or indirectly.
Dont fancy the RFP style? Go for the NA abuse. Monster Reincarnations (Return of the Doomed if you are lacking). Creators got mixed in for a little bit. Fiber Jar to re mix the whole deck and start over.
Its a splash of activity and ways to switch it up. So, in answering your question: Is Dark Ruler worth it in today's Fiend deck?
A fiend deck isn't a fiend deck unless it has fiend deck support.
To build fiend deck, I would have to abuse cards like Dark Necrofear...or cards that actually profit off of all of your monsters being fiends.
Night Asailant is one of my favorite cards. (In fact I made a Forced Requisition deck the other day) But he truly does not work well with Dark Necrofear, which is one of fiend's main support cards.
I have been thinking about fiends and the way that they play with other cards. And I came to a conclusion that Labyrinth of Nightmare is possible one of the best cards with fiends. It controls the field without sacrificing any of the monsters that you need to win the game, unlike Torrential Tribute. It works great with Dark Necrofear, because of it's great defense. Giant Orc becomes a solid 2200 atk monster. Crass Clown becomes the star of the circus. :p It makes Goblin of Greed a solid defense monster, instead of a weak 1000 atk monster. (So you can play those Raigeki Breaks for free :) ) And not to mention how much it hurts your oppenent's monster; most of them have a fairly low defense....only to be crushed by Giant Orc :devious:
Im not sure about that Goblin of Greed, Des-. I thought it prevented activation of cards who required a cost. This is what I found on netrep:
Quote
"Goblin of Greed" prevents discarding as a cost, but not as part of an effect. So "Goblin of Greed" will stop "Kuriboh", but not "Mirage of Nightmare" or "Graceful Charity".
If your opponent activates an effect and discards as a cost, and you chain "Call of the Haunted" to Special Summon "Goblin of Greed", he doesn't stop the effect because the cost was already paid.
I think you would be prevented from using Raigeki Break at all. Or TIV, or Divine Wrath, TTTD,BTS1, etc. I look into it further and let you know if I find something different.
To me, Mind Control is like Jam Breeding Machine. It has unpleasant limitations, so people avoid it. However, I will reiterate, there are still several things you can do with a monster that has been Mind Controlled, including but not limited to:
- Using ignition/trigger effects (like you've stated)
- Using flip effects (ditto)
- Use Puppet Magic of Dark Ruler! muahahaha!
- Thunder Crash! Two-Pronged Attack! Altar for Tribute (read the text carefully)! sort of...
- In Traditional Format, United We Stand
- Clear for an attack
- Can't think of much else, lol
Hrm, to some people this card will appeal, others will withdraw in disgust. I don't know about side-decking, but it might be good for maindecking with some obscure strategy. IMO, the reason Konami gives us weird cards like these is to force us to think outside the box...
I just posted this in HoloRareHunter's new thread about Mind Control from the WC 2005(?) game that just came out...it's that Change of Heart-type card that won't let you attack or sacrifice. I read a little bit in this here fiend thread a looong time ago...and I just realized that Mind Control (if not restricted at all) could be a brand new card for Archfiends... :o
yes, I agree. You will need to work "outside" the norms to use this well. Puppet Magic sounds the best to me. But then, you probably know Im biased, lol.
