The election is over, no need to tell us which party you voted for.
As is, you are very close. It was one person in particular and he was affilliated with your... I mean... the nazi party. It's the person's name I'm looking for here.
I assume you mean his paternal grandfather. That was Albrecht Krieger, aka CAPTAIN NAZI. His materal grandfather was killed by U-Boat sailors whose true names have never been revealed.

All right, all right, Custom, we get it. You're very well versed in Captain Marvel lore. Enough already.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

Although, since JTR didn't specify which grandfather and Freddy's maternal grandfather was killed by "Nazis"---Pepsirox technically answered the question as it was asked correctly.

You could get even more technical. Captain Nazi would never have killed gramps if Cap Marvel hadn't sent him to the lake. Captain Marvel is the true killed there. I leave Bulletman out of it, tho they were both attacking Cap Nazi.
And I don't recall Fred's maternal grandfather in any of the Fawcett comics issues.

You didn't specify Fawcett; you specified "pre-Crisis". During Shazam's run in World's Finest Comics it was revealed that Kid Eternity was Freddy Freeman's brother; so his "Grandpa" that was on the boat with him when it was torpedoed by Nazis was his, and Freddy's, maternal grandfather.
But okay, here's a new question: Saul Cartwright and Peter McCarthy were two different DC comics characters who were both based on the same real-life person. Who?
