Another busy week -- I'm not even going to attempt catching up on the thread right now.

This headcold kicked me through the weekend and pressed me to make a short workday of Monday. Not 100%, but I'm doing much better today.

Too much work to deal with, though. If I play this well I'll be able to have a pleasant Friday at work from where I'll be able to melt into a holiday weekend. That's the aim.

Much to do to get from here to there, though.

Last week of part-time and then I'm full time, baby! Gonna be an adjustment to be sure.

Even with zombies (and ninjas) to spice it up that was such a tedious slog that I had to force myself to finish. I can understand Austen's appeal to young girls, who would then have a nostalgic connection to her works, but the desire to flee those characters and their dreadful time and place only grew stronger as I read.

This is the exact type of overly-opinionated behavior that I can't stand on websites. The guy seems to be a hater just for the sake of hating. Knowing that there are others that like these characters and purposely being over the top critical. If someone here is a friend of his, I apologize, but the guy seems like a complete jerk.

For the most part when people post stuff like that, I insert "In my opinion" or "From my point of view" into their posts often.

But calling someone else's claim "funny" and then deriding it is when he starts to bother me.

I often post a different point of view from the norm. When I do so, I do my best to not put down the point of view of others. I may totally rip into the source material, and if someone takes that personally, they need to reevaluate things. And I do my best to do it comedically, although not everyone catches on.

I don't know about "complete jerk" since I've seen other much worse posts than this, but I certainly wouldn't want to see any more posts like this or have his derisive behavior escalate.

I agree. I just wanted to use one specific quote, but I know what you're saying.

Maybe complete jerk is a bit much, I don't know. I don't like to point fingers on a website, it seems petty, but there are people who create an environment that drives new people away. Posts like his and others are the exact type that do just that. I clearly like to joke around a lot on here, sometimes my jokes cross the line, but I never try to rip in to someone or insult their opinion. It happens far too often that you see someone called "retarded" or "stupid" for having an opinion that doesn't line up with those other trolls. It's just sad that people like that exist.

They're fanboys. Let 'em be fanboys.

And if anyone is put off by it, just PM them and say "Don't take it too seriously. They're fanboys."

Nah, man. If you feel like calling him a complete jerk here with us; go for it. I'm just saying I've seen much worse. Maybe in your experience he tops the sundae or maybe I haven't seen enough by him.

I think me and Transformers or LotR are good examples of what you're talking about, though. I have a different opinion on them than most. I have all kinds of reasons for my point of view. It doesn't mean I have to tell people they are idiots for liking those things. I even try to stay away from statements like "What kind of idiot would like this stuff."

I, like you, don't see how other people can't take the time to think about their posts before they post them.
