You actually have to ferret out the good pizza places. when you find them, it's worth it, and you understand the reputation. Most people who say "I don't see what the fuss is all about" tend to have just eaten a 99¢ slice from a fast food joint. In NYC every street corner has at least two of these four things: Fruit Stand, Schwarma/Hotdog/Pretzel stand, Starbucks, or a cheap crappy pizza joint.
To get the real pizza while in NYC and experience the full oral pleasure, ask a local where their favorite place is.
Just a quick, idle comparison of 102 pt bricks, from Xplosion's Doc Samson to Cap's Ursa Major.

Obviously, Doc has more going on up front regarding damage-dealing capacity, as was the custom in dial design for so much of the history of this game. If Doc gets in a first blow - getting past Shape Change and presumably with a heavy object and the Perplex applied to his AV to give him better odds of hitting - then it's going to come down to BCF rolls for the bear. If Doc takes more than a couple clicks of damage, though, Ursa's superior stats will see Doc either trying to run away (which, with the Leap/Climb he could - but Ursa is as fast or faster, so then it'll come down to who's willing to push) or standing and unless his dice are extremely hot and his opponent's very cold, he'll be bear chow eventually. Doc's Attack and Defense numbers drop terribly.
The revisions to/clarifications of Shape Change would mean in a one on one match if Doc targeted Ursa for an attack and a 5 or 6 came up, that Doc would have no other option (it's attack something or do nothing and take it as a turn), so that's something else going for Ursa.
I know it's officially supposed to all be derived from the same cost generator, but I wonder what Ursa's dial would really have cost had it been put in for consideration back when Xplosion came out? I don't believe I have any of the cost generator spreadsheets handy I once did. Are Super Strength and Leap/Climb just that expensive?
More often than not, I think Ursa will take Doc. After all, Ursa can afford to push because he's still useful late dial. Doc is not so much. Plus Ursa stays hard to hit.
and Super Strength is expensive, but Leap/Climb is not so much. Perplex, however, is.
